Louis, fils de du roi Philippe 1er, qui dès 1102, avait défait plusieurs seigneurs brigands du domaine royal, élimine en 1103 le seigneur de Meung, Léon, vassal indocile de l'évêque d'Orléans. Louis, futur Louis VI le gros, avait été associé au pouvoir par son père depuis 1100. Pour effacer la souillure de la présence d'hommes armés dans l'église, Jean, évêque d’Orléans fit une nouvelle consécration de l’église Saint-Liphard en 1104.
