The hotel was very good quality for the price staff were very polite and helpful, if you needed anything, the room was adequate for what I needed bed was comfortable got a couple of good nights sleeps old hotel and room showed it could do with updating And walls were very thin. I was very disappointed with the very small shower ok for petite people but well built people like me would struggle and did.Breakfast was very good could not fault it never tried the restaurant but the Bistro bars food was very good and reasonably priced. The only thing I could not get my head round was they had 3 bars and the price for the same drink was different in each one and the Aztec bar actually charged 2 different prices depending on what time you were there. Last but not least on the Saturday evening decided to go into the entertainment bar and the young lady singer was outstanding so well done the Derwent I used you 30 years ago and enjoyed the stay and yes I enjoyed my stay this time hopefully I will be back in the near future

Dated, slightly rickety hotel. Room was fine although quite hot at night. Breakfast was good. Pool would be good although was cold on our visit. Games room was a bit scruffy although still good fun. Location is great for the beach and town centre.

We had an enjoyable stay . The hotel is dated but it is clean and tidy . The staff are efficent and welcoming. Wr had breakfast and evening meal in the restaurant and found the food good, hot and plentyful .

All the staff were excellent.Room was clean although very small(213). I always enjoy my stays at the Derwent. Disappointedly Alberts was closed and therefore the two reduced price drinks on arrival day were not available although the vouchers were still in the room.

Great except for beds

Stayed in twin room at The Derwent. Mattresses need throwing out. Full of old creaky springs. Not fit for purpose. Housekeeping fitted mattress toppers on request which made beds useable but not good. Communal areas and pool lovely. Clean rooms.

Feel you must review your fire evacuation procedures. I was on 3rd floor when alarm went off and must say there was no way I was able to exit via the stairs. The stairs from top to bottom were chic a bloc with very old people who could not get down the very steep and narrow stairs. Maybe all guests who have trouble using stairs should be allocated ground floor rooms.

A lot of noise from the corridor, next door rooms, and traffic outside (due to very poor insulation, people and traffic all behaved normally). Extremely smelly bathroom, with a bathroom door that couldn't close. So combined this was rather uncomfortable. Did not feel comfortable enough to even go near the pool facilities. I'd probably have left if I would have needed the room from more than a short night. The decor is tired and the room was quite small, but with better insulation that wouldn't have mattered so much.

Loved the stay

Loved the stay. Room was good, spacious and warm. Bathroom was clean and nice water flow. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi were a great fun. Food was enjoyable at the restaurant too.

Staff were great! I mentioned my mattress being uncomfortable and they did all they could be rectify it. A bit tired, but would stay again.
