We visited for four days in late September, and although the weather was still crisp, coming back to relax by the open fire after hiking in Tongariro National Park was pure bliss. My adult son especially enjoyed the location for fly fishing, and walking along the river was so peaceful. If we travel through the North Island again, we’ll definitely be back for a few more nights.
