Amazing stay at The Frangipani Tree, the hotel was lovely with around 9 rooms so it felt very private, and dining each morning and evening with an ocean view was magical. The real stand out was the staff and the food, everyone went abov4e and beyond to make us comfortable and the Chef made meals specifically to our requests - nothing was too much trouble. Thank you again.

Amazing boutique hotel

What an amazing place, 5 star luxury, the hotel grounds are pristinely, you have your own beach (as its difficult to get to unless you have hotel access. Great pool, the food is the best we had in Sri Lanka, they serve different types of Sri Lankan breakfast that you can try, like egg hoppers and sting hoppers with curry and dhal. We stayed in the sea view rooms on the second floor, amazing view of the sea and are huge. The best bit are the guys working there, they cannot do enough for you and make the experience. 10 min walk to Turtle Beach were you can hand feed Green Turtles, 5 mins in a tuk tuk to Unawatuna and 15 to Galle. So huge choice of restaurants and bars. We loved it here, we will stay again when we come back to Sri Lanka. Great value too booked on Hotels.com. Best value we have ever had.

This is a beautiful property, quaint and luxurious. The service and staff were impeccable, Gaumathi, Sanjeewa and Dhammika went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. We stayed here for 3 nights and didn’t even leave the property other than to go for walks along the beach at sunrise and sunset. The food is really good and underrated. The only thing you may want to know is that you can’t swim on the beach in front of the property as it’s too rocky, but there are excellent swim spots a few minutes walk on either side, we just enjoyed the 25m pool which was truly nice.

We loved our stay here. Our accommodation was superb and the staff were even better. The proximity to the small beach is the most striking feature with the glorious Indian Ocean constantly breaking waves within yards. As others have said you can’t swim off this beach due to the rocks but it’s fantastic nonetheless. The internet at the property is a bit patchy and our room had no tv but it took us until day 3 to realise this, which says it all. Special mention to the staff who were constantly smiling, helpful and professional.

We stayed at the Frangapani for 3 nights at the end of our holiday in Sri Lanka. We stayed in several similar boutique hotels - this one was the most expensive but also the most disappointing. Everything was average, nothing special. The pool and grounds were nice and there was a lovely beach, however it was filled with rubbish which spoiled the view and it wasn’t nice to walk along. There was no atmosphere or special touches. The price we paid really did not reflect in the amenities, service or general experience.

We stayed at the Frangipani Tree for 9 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were very helpful even before we arrived, helping to book a car from the airport. It is a two hour drive form the airport but the roads are very good and there is lots to look at on the way. On arrival you can relax with a drink and admire the scenery. The site is not large, it is based on 9 lodge type rooms around a pool and a few metres from the beach and behind a wall and gatehouse to separate it from the road. There is a bar/restaurant as well. The room was large, the bed was large and very comfortable and had a mosquito net around the bed but we didn’t find insects much of a problem here. The bathroom was large and had a bath and a rain shower with hot water at any time. There was nice smelling shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The air con was brilliant. The room we had was concrete based, but it was tastefully decorated and was comfortable with a lounge area, desk and table. There were two wardrobes, a safe and a fridge. No TV and the internet was sketchy so get a Sri Lankan SIM for your phone data if you will miss these. We did a lot of reading and playing games so didn’t notice the lack of TV. It was nice to not watch the news. Bottled water is topped up regularly. The food is wonderful. You will not have food from a freezer and microwave, it has to be ordered in good time which you get used to. Food is made in the kitchens to a high standard. Breakfast is huge and we

The Frangipani Tree - Great Hotel, Great Location

We had a no hassle stay, in a wonderfully located hotel by the sea. The staff were terrific and made our stay very comfortable. They went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We asked for dinner with 7 guests on our verandah and they complied making for a wonderful intimate evening.

Lovely hotel

lovely hotel with some outstanding interiors and friendly staff. The hotel is quiet and is about a 15min tuk tuk ride from Galle. The food was excellent and there was a good selection.

Beautiful!!!

This place was amazing! The staff was wonderful even letting us check out a bit late on our last day to give us more time in the sun. It was such a relaxing few days. And in the evening turtles swim up to the shore! Highly recommend

Outstanding Service and Luxury

A very relaxing stay a short drive out of Unawatuna. The outdoor bathroom definitely a highlight but also made plenty of use of the tennis court and pool. The service was also outstanding

Small boutique hotel by the beach. Very quiet. Service was ok but very slow. Food was good but you will find much better options for much cheaper in Unawatuna beach (10min away by tuk tuk). Overall very relaxing experience and staff are nice. Room was big and clean even though quite basic. When we were using the pool we were always alone. There is a stretch of secluded beach in front of the hotel but not friendly to swim in as rough

Frangipani Tree.

We stayed in The Frangipani Tree for 5 nights and enjoyed every minute , from the warm welcome of the staff to our final farewell as they waved us off. Hospitality was second to none. The individual suites are beautiful , and ours had the indoor / outdoor bathroom which was a novelty and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our suite was facing the sea and it was so beautiful to wake up to the sound of the waves every morning. The food was lovely especially the Sri Lankan fare. The staff were absolutely perfect, so friendly and helpful in every way. I would definitely recommend The Frangipani Tree and hope to return again at some time Fiona ( ireland )

Great views

One night stay. Amazing outlook. We walked in and the view of the pool and the ocean was beautiful. The outdoor bathroom was lovely. The bathtub under the frangipani tree was a surprise. Downside... no internet, no apologies, when I kept asking I was avoided. We had a business to run and had no internet the entire time. They probably. Do not have it for guests. Best to double check. No water affected on departure as in all other hotels. Very disappointed with staff attitude over the internet

Wunderschönes kleines aber sehr gemütliches Hotel ganz nahe bei Galle und Unawatuna. Direkt am Strand , allerdings nicht perfekt zum Schwimmen da Wellen zeitweilig sehr hoch. Sehr aufmerksames Management,freundliches Personal und gute Küche Insgesamt sehr zu empfehlen

Wonderful hotel, can’t wait to return

Literally just checked out and already missing the place. This is a gem and from start to finish was just perfect. The staff and manager especially did everything to make us feel welcome and like at home. The beach is spectacular and great for early morning walks. The rooms where beautiful and spotless with the most incredible bathroom overlooking the ocean. Highly recommend this property.

Perfect stay

We had a really wonderful stay here - felt like a private house with spacious rooms; a small number of guests (and no outsiders using the restaurant) and a beautiful swimming pool. The only down-side (which affects almost every property on the coast) is that it isn't safe to swim from the hotel beach due to the currents. We had one swim down the road a short tuk-tuk away but you'll just have to make do with the amazing pool instead! Beautiful, well-appointed bedroom
