Refined luxury apartment in a 15th century Palazzo with canal view
The scaleter apartment is a remarkable property expertly created within a 15th century canal-side palace near the Church of Santa Fosca in the heart of Cannaregio. Palazzo Vendramin Costa provides a calm, unruffled and historically fascinating backdrop for an unforgettable stay.
A generously proportioned apartment on the first floor reached by stairs from the Palazzo’s communal ‘androne’ hallway, boasting a fine combination of wooden beamed and 18th century Venetian stucco ceilings, cool terrazzo flooring underfoot and charming views over the Rio di Santa Fosca canal to the fore.
Integrating chic Italian design with meticulously restored architectural details such as Venetian terrazzo flooring and colourful frescoes
Scaleter is the term used to indicate pastry chefs in Venice. The name derives from some desserts that were produced on the occasion of special parties or weddings.
MORE IN DETAILS
Sleeping 4 + 2 guests in a classic pared-down elegance, the apartment comprises :
– An entrance hallway
– A canal-facing sitting / dining room with plush sofas (including a sofa bed), a dining table for 6, and a semi-separate well-equipped kitchen
– An inner hallway at the centre of the apartment, off which sit Scaleter’s 2 roomy double bedrooms. The first bedroom to the very rear of the apartment overlooking the Palazzo’s narrow inner courtyard / calle to the side, with a beautiful wooden beamed ceiling, a double bed, plus a separate walk-in wardrobe with wood-lined interior. The second bedroom offering a similar outlook and dressed in similar style with a double bed and restored stuccoed ceiling overhead.
– Scaleter’s 2 modern bathrooms are also off the inner hallway – one with a mirror-backed bathtub lit by an intriguing Gothic quatrefoil stone window bringing to mind the Palazzo’s ancient roots, and the other with a shower & wash hand basin leading to a separate w.c. & bidet just beyond.
