All the previous reviews have hit on the same things, so I will write about different things! Here are some tips if you’re going to stay in the town of Volcano, and specifically in this house. Bring your warmest pajamas, it gets cold at night! Bring a pair of dedicated house shoes or slippers so that you don’t drag mud into the house. The last bit of road before you turn into the driveway is extremely bumpy, our lame rental car was able to do it so yours will too, but ladies, you may want to make sure your bras have enough support, lol! If you plan to eat at home, make sure you go shopping well before you get to Volcano, there is a good Foodland supermarket in Kea’au if you’re coming from Hilo. And if you stop in Hilo on the way, there is a fantastic outdoor farmers market with super cheap delicious papayas, definitely stock up on them! The best two restaurants in Volcano Village are Thai Thai Bistro and ʻŌhelo Café. Seriously, Thai Thai bistro is so good that we dream about it between visits. Walking on lava is a killer on shoes, bring hiking boots if you have them! Also, it’s windy a lot of the time, and the temperature can change by 25° between Volcano Village and sea arches in Volcano National Park. That’s all, I hope somebody found something in here helpful :-)
