Beach-level retreat with stunning Maalaea views

Hono Kai A3 is a charming ground-floor, 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom condo that features a window A/C in the bedroom and ceiling fans throughout for added comfort. Unit A3 can accommodate up to 4 guests. The bedroom boasts a queen-size bed and a queen-size sofa sleeper in the living area offers additional sleeping space. The updated en suite bathroom features a spacious walk-in shower. The fully equipped kitchen, complete with tile countertops, custom cabinets, and updated appliances, provides an ideal space for preparing your meals. Step out onto the lanai and enjoy easy access to the ocean and pool, while savoring partial ocean views. This unit is located on the south side of the resort.

Hono Kai is a beachfront property where you can enjoy a 6-mile stretch of beach with views of Haleakala and Kaho'olawe, an oceanfront pool, and BQQ areas. Additionally, there is a coin-operated laundry facility for your convenience. Hono Kai is located at Ma'alaea Bay near many attractions, shops, and restaurants. Walk to the Aquarium, enjoy exciting activities from the nearby harbor, play miniature golf and more at Maui Golf & Sports Park, or shop at the Maui Harbor Shops. Ma'alaea is located in central Maui, bringing you closer to either side of the island. There are no resort or parking fees.

Good.....But

Communication with the management company is excellent. The location of the apartment is very good. You are just steps from the beach where you can walk and swim. It’s well equipped with all the amenities you need to prepare a meal. Towels and beddings were fresh. There are beach chairs and umbrellas for your use. When we first arrived, the location seemed a little isolated, but it is only about 15 minutes to shopping and there is small market not far away. A benefit is the location is quite at night. The primary negative is the odor from the septic system as you walk from and to the apartment to the parking lot. The odor can be detected in the apartment if the wind is blowing this direction. This issue needs to be corrected. For the cost of the apartment one should not have to deal with this. Thus why my overall rating is a three.

Great location on Maui

Hono Kai is a great location. Miles of beautiful sandy beach without crowds. Quiet neighborhood. It is a good central point to discover the island of Maui. We truly enjoyed it.

I would give it a 10 but gets a 9.8. Only things I didn’t like is parking spots are really small, no curtain in the shower and entrance knob door is for a bedroom not a main entrance. Otherwise everything is great.

Maalaea stay

The apartment was nice, but too much furniture and artwork. Simplify! Proximity to beach pretty good, sound of the surf great at night. Our main complaint was the sewage smell. (Outdoors, not inside). There are holding tanks at one end of the parking lot which cast their odoriferous pall over the whole area. Also, Maalaea is not much to write home about.

The condo was overcrowded with owner stuff! Closets, cupboards, under the bed and shelves were overloaded with stuff. Most disappointing that my perfect stays, the property manager, did not feel it important to return a telephone call to me. Disappointed!

Perfect Location

Loved our stay with Perfect Stays. The location on the island was perfect with a rental car. The back patio was perfect to watch the waves in the shade and read a book. Had everything we needed. My husband thought the matress was lumpy. I didn't think so. We would stay here again.

Nice and quiet. Great place to spot whales. Nice beach. Need to clean the tops of the fan blades. The rain shower head doesnt seem to work. The AC unit needs a filter change. Perfect stays was very good about communicating. Not a criticism just a comment. I would remove the glass table against the wall and the smaller if the 2 chairs. When you open the sleeper sofa it's too crowded.

Okay but overpriced

Close to ocean and nice beach. A less than mile walk takes you to the harbor and some restaurants and a sea museum. Undoubtedly quieter than condos on Kihei Rd. Except that walls are paper thin. Property is older and cramped. Shows wear. Advertised daily rate is misleading because of a large abnormal service charge. Other family members got something at least twice the size and in much better shape for same price. Adequate if better options are booked.

Highly recommend!

This place was awesome! The location was central to everything we wanted to do, and it was a wonderful place to come back to at the end of a long day. We also loved that it was not too "touristy" and crowded. There was a nice mix of tourists and locals at this location. Having the beach right outside of our door and hearing the waves crashing against the shore every night was lovely. We also greatly enjoyed the AC and the fans... they kept us nice and cool on hot days. My only complaint about this place is that it needs a DEEP clean and a bit of updating. The place was generally clean, but there was a layer of dust and some dirt. Overall, I highly recommend!

Perfect Little Spot

This was an easy process and we were pleasantly surprised about the proximity to the ocean and the quietness of the neighborhood. We would book this again. Be prepared to rent a car or walk .5 mile to activities.

Nice place!

We really enjoyed ourselves, and especially loved the convenience to the beach, plus the lovely little lanai with the pretty plantings. There was a slight struggle with toilet, but, we always managed to keep it going.

Nice stay and great value

Nice condo at a great price. Centrally located and great for short trips throughout Maui - with access to beach just steps away. We spent most of our time in nearby towns and on beaches that offered better snorkeling and diving options. Beach near condo is nice - with lots of turtles -but trade winds were active and area was windy for the 2 weeks we stayed. A little dated - but overall clean and no concerns about health or safety in staying during COVID. Overall would recommend this to others who want a nice stay at a central location with quick access to all that Maui has to offer! Would give 4.5 stars overall if that was an option!

Right by a state park

Steps away from a beautiful beach. You will see turtles in the water everyday. Right next to a state park! There are a few cons, the bed sheets had stains on them. We reached out and they quickly replaced. It was difficult to feel welcomed with the multiple postings in the condo about if you ruin the towels you’ll get fined etc. I think it has the potential to be a 5 star but, they need to update the condo and take down the postings. We had a good stay otherwise.

Perfect Condo on the beach

We stayed here for 7 nights and 8 days with my husband and 3 year old son and it was great. The proximity to the beach and pool were amazing. The provided beach chairs, coolers, etc. Made it easy to post up at the beach for a few hours. It was also centrally located making it easy to get to other parts of the island. The area isn't crowded so it was nice to get away from the busier parts of the island. The room and beds were comfortable for us 3. Plenty of towels, blankets, and pillows. We would definitely book thus property again.

My Perfect Stay - A-3

Place was clean, needed some sheets & TP that was not stocked, called the “ my perfect stay” number they had a person there with in an hour. We arrived at midnight so we did wait till the AM. The condo we stairs in A-3 gets the morning sun which is nice. Easy walk to the beach. Condo does face neighboring condo pool & gathering area. (Can get loud) Kitchen is well stocked, needs a pizza cutter. No washer/dryer in condo but they do have washer/dryer in complex. Pool is nice, can also get busy if a big family is in. A/C worked well. A vehicle is a must as you are quite away from the big food stores or just getting around. Nice little walking distance from the Aquarium as well a little put- put golf, small rock wall, trampoline, & small bumper boats. We rented snorkeling gear from Snorkel Bobs for the week (good price) rental car hard to find, get yours early. Would recommend with a do pass - would stay again.
