Charming and cozy Chalet in a prime location in the Ardennes.

Here you can taste the special atmosphere of the Ardennes. At a distance of no more than 300 km you are suddenly in a completely different world. A beautiful nature with valleys and mountains, untouched forests, wild rivers and winter much more snow than in the Netherlands. The house is also very favorable. You walk straight into nature, because of its location near the river Amblève, the brook the Steinbach and the big Wolfsbusch.
In short; an eldorado for nature lovers, hikers, cyclists, golfers, for cross-country skiing or skiing!

The chalet:
When you enter here you will feel at home in the special atmosphere of the Ardennes. The chalet has recently been restyled and simple, but it is in good condition and nicely furnished. There are good books and games available. The beautiful wood stove increases the atmosphere. The sloping ceiling with the mezzanine floor to the upstairs bedrooms provide extra dimension in the L-shaped living room, while the separate dining area with a delicious sofa and king-size table forms another special place (see photos). Around the house there is a beautiful squirrel. The patio doors are a godsend, especially when the weather is nice. The kitchen is complete and there is a spacious kitchen inventory. The terrace with a sturdy dining table with adjustable seats covers 30 m2 and offers a lot of privacy, so you can enjoy the sun. A barbeque and a fire pit in the garden provide extra atmosphere. There is a sheltered garden surrounding the house with scattered benches where you can relax or read a good book. On the driveway is a private parking space, as well as additional parking space next to the barn. Exciting is the higher playhouse for little children and a double swing for toddlers and children. There is more than enough space for 6 people, possibly 7 (baby). In the shed you will find the barbecue and a sleigh and all kinds of tools if you want to tinker.
Around the house is a spacious garden with lots of playing grass.

Layout:

Ground floor:
Spacious L-shaped room with a two-seater sofa and armchair. Gas heating and cozy fireplace with wood stove.
In the L of the living room there is a spacious dining area with a sofa, chairs and king-size table for 8 people.
The brand new kitchen has a large kitchen, refrigerator, complete inventory and plenty of crockery. You cook on gas and there is an oven. For the enthusiast there is a Senseo, but also an ordinary coffee machine. Design bathroom with walk-in shower, toilet and washbasin. Spacious hall. Nice double bedroom with two person box spring and doors to the backyard.

Floor:
Two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two single beds. There are 1 single duvets and pillows in all bedrooms. You must take care of duvet covers, (cover) sheets, pillowcases, hand and tea towels.

Location and surroundings:
The chalet is very quiet in a group or 7 private houses. From the garden you walk into nature. It is surrounded by forests, streams and the river Amblève. A little further is the small village of Ondenval. The chalet has a large private area (500 m2).
For a good book you can go to our closet. There are many games and you can enjoy the fire place in the garden, or enjoy a good beer or wine by the stove. For children there is plenty to do on the swing, in the playhouse, in nature, near the stream, the river or in the forest. There is a 4G network and if you want to go to Café Terminus in Montenau or Le Cyrano in Waimes, where you can enjoy a nice Belgian beer or perfect French wine next to free Wifi!

The Ardennes and the special culture of the East Cantons:
At only 300 km or 3 hours drive from the Netherlands. Beautiful green hill and mountain country, dense forests, picturesque villages and towns. Our house is one of the most beautiful valleys of the region. On the trout river the Amblève and sheltered by the beautiful Wolfsbusch.
In the area you will find numerous different landscapes and routes. The High Fens (6 km) are a special and rugged nature reserve. Go to Baraque Michel and the nearby Nature Museum.
Belgium is already known for its delicious enjoyment and food, but in the Ardennes that Burgundian lifestyle gets even more dimension. A selection of products, including good wines, is available in stores. Also special are several local products or high quality, such as trout from Ondenval, various cheeses from Thirimont, Ardennes ham from Montenau, etc. Especially the game in the hunting season is not to be sneezed. For fresh game from the Ardennes and Eifel you can go to the Caterer in Robertville or prepared at the restaurant or Hotel Cyrano in Waimes. Everywhere in the restaurants you will be served high quality at a reasonable price. On the many cozy terraces and cafes you have the wide choice of Belgian beers. Try the Kwak gourmet beer at Café Scotch on the central square in Malmedy or go to the new brewery in Bellevaux (4 km). Or go to the Beer Museum in Rodt near St. Vith. And then the language! Our house is located in the Walloon and German speaking area (East Cantons).
Do not be put off by French. Nowadays, the residents really do their best in Dutch and if they do not, German or Dutch usually offers a solution. A very special cultural aspect is the attention for the Ardennes offensive. Close to Baugnez is a small museum that pays attention to the impact in the Malmedy area.

Enjoy in the Ardennes:
Walking can be unlimited in the immediate vicinity. One of the largest forests in the Ardennes, the Wolfsbusch, borders directly on the site. Tennis, horse riding and cycling (eg renting of (electric) bicycles and mountain bikes) is possible. The special nature reserve the High Fens with many hiking trails is close by. A walk along the fairytale river with numerous waterfalls, the Ninglinspo near Remouchamps (see photos) and at a distance of 4 km are several beautiful villages such as Ligneuville, Montenau, Waimes, etc. In the immediate vicinity you will find plenty of restaurants, nice terraces, cafes and bars.
You can make a day trip to Liège, Aachen, Monschau, Luxembourg, Vianden, Little Switzerland, Bastogne, La Roche etc. Furthermore, the Ardennes with its lovely surroundings, nice villages, cities, an abundance of museums and attractions within your immediate reach. (Spa, Remouchamps, Stavelot, Cascade de Coo, etc.) Swimming pools can be found in Montenau, Spa, St. Vith and Robbertville. At 15 km. is the famous water sports center "Worikken" on Lake Bütchenbach (sailing, surfing, swimming, pedal boats, etc.) In short, you can fully enjoy your holiday!

The `Real Ardennes`
Nature is the big attraction of the Ardennes. And rightly so, because the area offers Dutch unspoiled nature close to home!
Actively going out automatically in the Ardennes. There is a dense network or signposted routes. These are available locally at the VVV. Routes that run through forests or along beautiful villages and towns. With plenty of choice for untrained hikers for people who are looking for more lively walks or long-distance walks. In the natural environment of the Ardennes there is also excellent kayaking, mountain biking, survivallen, horse riding or golf.
Recently, there is an extensive network of cycle paths, called Ravel, built over various former railways. As a result, the height difference is not more than 3% so that you can get on with a normal Dutch bike with 3 gears. From our house you can easily cycle to Aachen, Monschau, St. Vith and even the north of Luxembourg. Along the route there are also many nice terraces for a drink or lunch. You can also rent electric bicycles in Waimes.

Entertainment nearby:
Nice cafes and restaurants are nearby in Montenau, Waimes, Malmédy and St. Vith, but you can also take a walk in the forest and eat something at the Beer Museum (in winter a ski hut and cross-country skiing paradise). Nearby are the High Fens. You are also close to Germany with nice places such as Monschau and all the nice towns in the Eifel, but also Luxembourg is only half an hour away.
In Coo is a small amusement park "Plopsaland" and the famous waterfall "Cascade de Coo".
Spa has a nice center, a casino and a beautiful new thermal bath.
A larger amusement park is Phantasialand near Cologne.
New is a small war museum dedicated to the Ardennes offensive. That is close to Baugnez.
You can fish in the Amblève (first permit at the Waimes post office), but also in a large fish pond in Recht, where there is a playground and a nice cafe / restaurant on the water.

There are many attractions in the vicinity of the house. Reinhardstein castle, Botrange nature park center, Spa / Franchorchamps circuit, Stavelot abbey, museum of the circuit in Stavelot. And much, much more!
