Great Stay at The Suites

Wonderful stay at the Onora Suites. The location was perfect - within easy walking distance of restaurants and the Grand Theater. Parking was convenient and I appreciated that the hosts provided small snacks and a brief area visitor guide in the suite - small gestures that can go a long way when you are travelling. The only caveat for some people may be having to negotiate the stairs

Had a wonderful weekend getaway in Wausau! Onora Suites hit the spot in terms of comfort and convenience. From the great location (walkable), quality amenities (bed was very comfortable), and welcoming hosts (make sure to stop in the wine bar to say hello!), we could not have been happier with our choice. This was such a beautiful place to stay. Very close to shopping, entertainment and food. It offered way more room and a cozier environment then a hotel room. We struggled turning the heat up, so it was a little chilly the first night. I do wish there was an additional lock on the inside, just to provide an extra bit of comfort. Overall, would stay here again and will be recommending to friends in the area.

Downtown Gem

Fantastic gem in downtown Wausau. Spacious and clean and no noise despite being in the heart of downtown. The owners are very attentive and they run a great wine and whiskey bar on the first floor. If you are looking for a different experience this is it - different in a good way. I am going back great price. Parking across the street. Great job!!

The room was adequate, clean, and stocked with good coffee. The mattress was not our favorite - we aren’t fans of the memory foam experience and the pillows were more poofy than we like. The proximity to downtown was great. Would have appreciated knowing about the many stairs beforehand.

We enjoyed our stay in this very unique room! Leslie was so easy and kind to work with. The location is perfect-close to all we needed. Our suite was spotless and the bed very comfortable. Loved the real dinnerware available! No plastic! For us the only issue was the ~28 steps. There’s no elevator. Oh and bring your own ice😊

Quaint, older apartment in downtown Wausau

Stayed downtown for two nights. The Onora Suites are conveniently located right downtown near the fabulous YMCA and Wausau's main street (3rd Street). A nice experience that is way better than a corporate chain hotel next to the highway. The building is very old and has been remodeled inside. The remodel does look nice, but the age of the building means that you'll easily hear noise from the neighbors and the bar downstairs (which is only open until 8PM, so its not too late). The apartment has squeaky, uneven floors. Quaint for some, but not for everyone. There is also noise outside early in the morning with garbage trucks and snow plows in the winter. Some of the furnishings could be better. The fridge is functional but old; the TV is small and the 'dining room table' and chairs are on the cheaper (IKEA) side. It would be nice if they added more thoughtful decor. The bed was indeed comfortable, so no issues there.
