Great spot for a weekend at the river
We had a great long weekend at this home while in town for a wedding. Home is bigger than it looks in the pictures so we were pleasantly surprised. Our 4 year old loved spending hours on the dock fishing and using the crab pots, the beach area was also great for him. Thank you for letting us enjoy your home!

Very Disappointed and overpriced
The "location" on the river is great, but the house is a stretch for the rate per night being charged and an added cleaning fee that is a tad over the top based on the age/condition of the house. The property was not ready upon our arrival. Luckily, we had dinner reservations up in Warsaw so we'd be gone for awhile, time enough for the cleaning person to come take care of things. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder they say. To some, you'd think this place was the Ritz based on reviews. If you're looking for the "3 hots and a cot", a rustic feel, this will fill that need.

Nice location, great views and water access
Very nice house / cottage, great views on the bay. Our kids enjoyed the kayaks and the easy beach access. The house itself reminds me of houses in Florida, cinder block, one level, lots of windows. They have a nice gas stove and washer / dryer, but be advised the electrical is older (most outlets are non-grounded and we did have an older lamp there short out when it was plugged in), and it looks like it has seen better days in terms of the bathrooms, but all very functional. The fire pit and basketball court are great.

Private Beach / Quite Neighborhood
The pictures of the property and house are exactly the way it is. The private beach was enjoyable. The screened-in porch has awesome views. Large rooms inside, especially the living room, made it extra nice. This is a perfect place for a family with children that love the water, or a group of adults that want to get away and enjoy the views. Restaurants nearby are amazing. We ate out four times and all four were great. Wish we had time to check out more!

Property was very relaxing and private. Small occassional waves: great for us. Calm enough occasionally to try paddle boarding. Research restuarant times, many are closed Monday and Tuesday. Hours vary. Would definitely consider returning.

Wonderful Weekend
This was an absolutely gorgeous spot for a mid November weekend trip to the beautiful Northern neck. The home is spotless and is very charming with a retro river house vibe. The view and sunsets are outstanding in the private beach is just lovely, especially if you have children under 12. The host was very communicative and let us know about damage to the dock that had just occurred prior to our arrival. I highly recommend this as a relaxing and beautiful spot to spend your time on the Northern neck.

Our second time here. Super clean, fabulous location, very private and a terrific beach. Great kayaking with amazing views of open water and sand bottom launch. Owner is great to work with. Close to restaurants and fresh seafood. In particular, Miss Mary's in Whitestone, and the Dredge Restaurant in Irvington. If you love salt water and enjoy the peace and quiet to relax and reflect, this is perfect. Linda and Doug

Fabulous views of the bay and river
Very cute house with the most perfect fabulous view . Unfortunately, it rained all weekend but we still had fun . Remote area with few people . In better weather , you can bike , kayak , paddle board , enjoy campfire .

Beautiful Views
We absolutely loved our visit to Windmill Point. The views were amazing! Due to the pandemic, it was difficult to find restaurants that were open in the area so we cooked almost all of our meals at the house. The gas grill hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. When my husband preheated it for steaks, it was like a fire ball! He had to cool it down, disassemble and clean. Also, the front and back door knobs were about to fall off and he found a screwdriver and fixed both. The back porch was pretty dirty. That being said, we definitely plan on visiting your home again! We absolutely loved the master king size bed. It was so comfortable! Love your house and the design. Thank you so much for having us!

A Family Much Needed Getaway.
This home was very spacious in the family room & sunroom. The furniture was comfortable. Lots of cabinets in the kitchen and many appliances. There were many large pots and pans, but no saucepans. Every restaurant in the area were delicious. My children enjoyed the kayaks made available to us and made s’mores at the fire pit. It was nice having your own private beach and what wonderful sunsets. I would rent again but bring some of my kitchen ware.

Comfy spaces and beautiful places
We enjoyed our stay in this secluded rural property. It was a beautiful lot. The house had spacious rooms comfortably equipped so various activities could be going on by different groups of people at the same time. To mention a few, it has a large room for TV viewing, another for playing games, and an enclosed porch facing the river for relaxing conversations. The yard also was well equipped for conversation areas that allowed enjoyment of beautiful river views. Truly relaxing. We want to return at a later date.

Relaxing time on the bay
This home was a perfect quiet spot for our active family (boys ages 9 and 12 and our two pups) to spend spring break. We hiked, paddle boarded, and kayaked. We played basketball, corn hole, and baseball and found plenty of time to read all of the books we brought and more! We enjoyed evenings by the fire pit and sunrises and sunsets on the small beach. The house was clean and had everything we needed. It is not luxury, but we came for the beauty of the natural surroundings and we were not disappointed. We saw SO many amazing birds, a baby turtle washed up on the beach (which we returned to the water), and a seahorse was attached to a crab trap on the dock. While there we cooked most of our meals, but enjoyed local organic doughnuts and a great seafood dinner at Willaby’s. Overall, we had a great time in nature and spending time together without any distractions. We were so sad to leave and return to the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Gem of a place!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay here. The property is beautiful with lots of room for exploring and many ways to have fun. The private beach is beautiful, with breath taking views and sunsets. The dock is in good shape and perfect for sitting and taking in the view, fishing, crabbing- and we imagine- in warmer months- hours of fun for jumping and swimming. The picnic table by the water was a favorite spot for us, and the kids enjoyed the tire swing! The house is cozy, with a great lay out. The main living room is really beautiful (the pictures don't do it justice). Our kids had a blast going through the ample game supply and we had cozy nights on the couch with movies by the roaring fire in the fireplace. The kitchen is the perfect size for meal prep and well stocked. We cannot wait to come back in the summer- and we would absolutely stay here again!

Great House, with a few issues
House and location was great! However please be forewarned. Both my car and my friends car got stuck in the driveway due to mud/slash water in the driveway.

Beautiful location, but...
Absolutely beautiful location, but when then say remote -- you'll need more than a sedan to get down the driveway, especially if it's rained recently. We had similar issues as others did with the water softener, but there was also a coffee stain on the counter, tubs/linens weren't that clean. I'd likely give more leeway on the cleanliness if there wasn't a $145 additional fee, but I'd never seen this in the handful of trips I'd previously planned on vrbo and the owner didn't respond when I asked about returning it given we left the home cleaner than we found it...

Perfect Getaway!
My family was looking for a place to relax for a few days and unplug from online after remote working and remote learning for months. It was a perfect place to get away. My two boys enjoyed playing basketball, playing on the beach, fishing on the pier, having lunch at the picnic table, and making s'mores at the fire pit each night. It was exactly what we all needed!

Wonderful location a little rustic...
Let’s start with the good. This house is in a stunningly beautiful location. It is situated at the mouth of the Rappahannock River very close to the Chesapeake Bay. It has a wonderful glass enclosed sun porch where we had breakfast every day. There is a great picnic table by the beach where you can watch beautiful sunsets. There are comfy seats out on the patio. In summary, the outdoor areas of this house are fabulous. We visited in late October but our weather was great and we were even able to wade in the river. The house itself is a little run down. If you plan to cook, you might need to bring what you need. There are pots for cooking crabs and boiling pasta, but no small saucepans. Not all of the cookware had fitting lids. The kitchen itself is dated but functional. The rest of the house was clean and comfortable, if a little frayed around the edges. Also, there is no dining table. There are two seats at the kitchen counter and there is a big folding table on the sun porch but there is no indoor table. If you are there with a large group and the weather is not good this could be an issue. There is a big front room with very little furniture in it that would make a great dining space. You might be able to move the folding table and chairs there if the porch is unbearable. Northern Neck water is always questionable, and this house was no exception. The water is very hard and has lots of minerals. You will want to bring bottled water for drinking and making coffee. The house documentation references available jugs of water but there were none here. They have an elaborate water softening system which is having some issues but the owners are actively addressing them so hopefully this will be better soon. In summary...a beautiful location, comfortable, but the house has a few functional issues.

Cindy, thank you for your review. We do have a very lovely setting at the river and i'm glad you enjoyed it. It can be challenging keeping everything in constant working order when we're so remote. I'm so sorry about our water issue, we have a commercial water softening system that was having issues but we have rectified it and working great. We have reverse osmosis drinking water next to the kitchen faucet and it's very safe to drink but others may prefer to bring their own. My offer still stands, if you would like a weekend in the spring on us we would be happy to have you back. We''ll look into putting a dining set next to our kitchen. We've had others in the winter bring table and chairs in with no issue but it would certainly make it easier. Thank you for that feedback! Jenelle and John

Getting away from it all
A rural slice of heaven, we brought our Hobie Cat with us, and could pull it up onto the beach at night after a day of great sailing. Great winds and location for my teen son to solo sail. The house paddle boards and kayaks were a fabulous way to play along with jumping off the dock. We loved the outdoor shower to wash away our day and get ready for a lovely evening enjoying the dock or screened in porch. Thank you for sharing this lovely spot with us! Looking forward to our next visit.

A Lovely Property - Perfect for family
We survived Isaias in this lovely and very secure home! Although a hurricane was a little more excitement that we were looking for we found our hosts to be very communicative and attentive during our stay and we got to see nature in all its glory. This home is very comfortable and well stocked - we had everything we needed to have a very relaxing week. We barely saw a soul the entire time we were there but spotted lots of crabs, fish, and even two bald eagles. The dock is great to sit on and watch the sunset and the beach is a perfect little slice of sand for small children. The water was not to rough and if you have a mind to kayak or paddle board they are included with the rental.

Relaxing vacation
This house was a cute little cottage and perfect for our stay. It was exactly as described. However, I think the cleaning company needs to step up their game. The bath tubs were still a little dirty upon Arrival and they left sheets in the dryer for us to fold and put away. You can tell what dishes/pots were used more frequently then others, because they were cleaner looking. My suggestion is to have the cleaning company wash all dishes, pots pans and griddle more often even if they aren’t used. I had to clean the griddle that looked like it hasn’t been used in years because it had so much dust on it. I would also recommend getting a bigger gas grill and toaster since this house sleeps a lot of people. It took a long time to feed my group of 8. We purchased a small charcoal grill that we left behind for the next family. Also the Florida room was nice to sit and eat, but I would get more comfy chairs and have the cleaning company treat that room like it’s part of the house, it is definitely neglected with cleaning. The first 3 days there was a lot of jelly fish and a few of us got stung. Luckily the weather cooled off and so did the water and they were gone for the rest of the trip. I have found out they make a spray called sea safe which helps prevent stings so order ahead of time from amazon to be prepared. Overall my family had an amazing time here and relaxed a lot and really enjoyed hanging out on the dock and the beach. The guys had a great time fishing even though they didn’t catch anything. We did see lots of different wild life from bald eagles, a sting ray which was caught while fishing and he got away safely, deer, and hawks. I would recommend this house, just keep an open mind that it is an old cottage and not modern. But you won’t regret it. Thanks for renting us your home and allowing us to have a relaxed vacation filled with laughs and tons of memories.

Slice of Heaven
Despite having terrible weather, my family and I had a great time at this cottage on the water. Such a peaceful getaway with everything we needed. The tire swing and basketball hoop were a hit! My one piece of feedback is for the fireplace to be cleaned out prior to the next guest. The last guest must have had a nice fire but it was super smokey and had that terrible fire smell (I have asthma and bad allergies so maybe I was just more sensitive to it). Thanks again for sharing your cottage with us!

Dream home and location
Fantastic property and location. We spent 7 days with my family and dog. My teenage sons loved the place. The grounds were fantastic. We fished off he pier, took the sea kayaks out, sat on the private beach and rode bikes to town. They loved the basketball court and we really enjoyed the fire pit. My wife also loved how remote and quiet the property was. We had a fantastic trip. We would definitely go back.

Pristine views and ideal stay
What a location! The water meets the sky almost as far as the eye can see. The birds are plentiful, salty breeze carries the sound of their chirps and the waves. The house is bigger than it ĺooks in the pictures. It has beautiful furniture, sumptuous bedding, and everything you could possibly need. The beach is wide and long, excellent. The yard is huge and private. The kitchen has everything you could need, including spices. I really appreciated that I didn't have to bring handsoap, paper towels, dish detergent, toilet paper, or towels for bathing, nor was there an extra charge. I would definitely stay here again.
