Older charming chalet. Was original headquarters for the park is what a tour guide told us. Room was nice, staff great and had breakfast in the AM to go. Would definitely stay again.
The staff was very helpful and friendly starting with check in . The room was cozy and the bed was very comfortable! We appreciated that the Chalet was just outside the park.
Beautiful, historic railroad hotel and just outside the west entrance to Glacier National Park. Nice pastries and coffee to start the day. Friendly staff, clean room and great experience in this impressive, if not "fancy" hotel.
I highly recommend this place for people who admire a lot of character in historic and cozy places. They have coffee and delicious blueberry muffins in the lobby awaiting for you in the morning before your adventure starts. It is such a quaint chalet! There is a lot of interesting history of this chalet. It is in very close proximity to West Glacier entrance of GNP. What a gem!
The staff were exceptionally kind and very accommodating. Room was clean and housekeeping was thorough. Set in a prime location to the west entrance of the park. Would absolutely recommend staying at the Belton Chalet.
The Belton Chalet is an adorable, cabin-style hotel full of historic charm. Built in 1910, the building has maintained much of its original character, creating a warm and authentic atmosphere. We especially enjoyed our balcony, which was the perfect spot to relax with a nightcap while taking in the beautiful views.
The only downside was the creaky, noisy floors, which made it easy to hear people walking around. However, that seemed to come with the character of such a historic property. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and appreciated the unique ambiance of this charming hotel.
The front desk was amazing going above and beyond to answer questions about the area and make recommendations, especially Hailey. They set out pastries and coffee in the morning which was nice though they don’t replenish when they run out. The rooms were a bit old but in great condition and the shower had great water pressure. This was the perfect place to call home during our hiking trip. The train was surprisingly quiet but they provided ear plugs and a white noise machine.
The hotel was quaint and had an historic charm. The "continental breakfast" advertised was a small plate of store bought muffins, apples, and watery coffee. It was better than nothing but not worth advertising as a true continental breakfast. The provided white noise machine was very helpful with drowning out the very frequent train noises throughout the night. It was very nice as an hotel for staying the night only but there isn't a very good daytime hangout location. I would stay there again for an appropriate price.
The good stuff:
Perfect location in West Glacier
Attentive and friendly staff
Tasty muffins and decent coffee each morning
Generally quiet and peaceful
The not-so-good stuff:
Parking is shared with the restaurant/bar; we had to park across the 2-lane highway (I feel like each room should have one guaranteed parking spot)
Dust bunnies in our room and the complimentary ear plugs’ baggie was torn into and presumably already used (there’s a nearby train)
Zero privacy on our balcony; my husband was just enjoying the view when our neighbor came out to his balcony, lit up a joint and started rambling politics at my husband (some people can’t turn off their TDS, even on vacation)
The restaurant is stupid expensive for what you get (no soap in the women’s restroom and the manager ended up having me step into the men’s to get some on my hands / the food was good but NOT worth the cost. We found you can easily drive 10 minutes and dine for a fraction of the cost)
All in all, the value just isn’t there. We wouldn’t return and I wouldn’t recommend
it to anyone.
It's one of the Classic Hotels in Glacier, a must do at least once in your life. We enjoyed our time at the Chalet, the fireplace and coffee and muffins were a nice treat in the chilly mornings. Make reservations for dinner, also excellent food and drink!
