Stayed for New Years special menu which was above average and comparable with any 5 star restaurant however the hotel is not keep very well. The bed linen was stained, the bathroom full of black mould and toilet seat broken/loose. Simple things to keep maintained but poor attention to basic cleanliness which lets the place down massively if you want to stay. Staff were very friendly and attentive but manager not forthcoming that there was 10% off drinks at the bar for residents. Would not recommend,

The staff, especially at dinner, weren’t very engaging and seemed disinterested. The food in the restaurant wasn’t fine dining but average pub grub. At breakfast the chef managed to incinerate the black pudding and the coffee was tasteless and so weak. Good coffee via the in room coffee machine though. Very convenient location for trips to Blenheim Palace.

It was a lovely stay we were upgraded and had a bottle of prosecco in bedroom as was celebrating birthday. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and lovely variety

Excellent service from check in to check out. Room was fantastic and very comfortable. We stayed for 2 nights and also took advantage of the restaurant. The chef deserves top marks. Food was presented very well and the taste!, every mouthful was an adventure. Highly recommend and staff looked after us very well. If you can get parked outside the hotel, let them know and a charge is applied allowing the car to stay rather than the 4 hour limit on the machines. The free car park nearby, unless you are there very early or very late, not a chance of a space. We arrived Sunday after 5pm so managed to use car park. Left car park to have a day l exploring and returned to no spaces. Managed to get one near hotel and used the hotel, £10 for 24hours, i think is worth it to be near. Blenheim is a few minutes walk and Bicester shopping village is a 20min drive.

I was left disappointed, the hotel itself was beautiful, old but decorated well (However a little worn with age, that’s to be expected) but the whole place had a weird smell (from cooking fried foods and fish) , the towels although clean smelt also of the cooking (it Can’t be helped, it’s in the air) My main issue were the staff! We were greeted by, “As Iv just told the man in front of you, Microsoft Is down so I can’t check you in” I don’t tend to listen into other people’s conversations, so found very rude. We later went for a drink, I stood at the bar while 2 locals came in after and got served first (the barman knew there names, so evidently local) we drank and left (However a lovely pub just up the road was very welcoming) In the morning, not the friendliest of welcome, but again after I ordered breakfast (we just had a bacon bap and scrambled egg on toast, not a massive order) another gent walked in, placed his order and got served, ate and left before we got ours! On a plus, the young girl I gave my key to when leaving was very nice. Its a shame the rest of the staff didn’t follow her lead

Unfortunately the room was freezing cold and despite politely asking why the radiator would not come in the staff would say there was nothing to do with them. The room was clean and generous in size. The breakfast took forty minutes to be served which was quite a long time . The staff didn’t seemed engaging. Such a disappointment. I won’t be coming back.

Unexpectedly disappointing

The floor of the breakfast room was littered with food and not cleaned over the period we were resident at the hotel. The fire door at the top of the stairs was held open by a fire extinguisher (!) Our room had not been made up where returned on the Saturday afternoon. The staff seemed to perceive our request to rectify this oversight as an inconvenience. Breakfast buffet options were limited.
