Very helpful front desk staff and courteous lobby personnel. Large comfortable bed. The room cleaning staff also do a great job. There is complimentary access to a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The breakfast selection is large and of excellent quality.

There was a quiet park near the hotel, and the room was comfortable and spacious. It wasn’t far from the Bell Tower, so it was convenient to get around. I would consider staying here again.

The hotel and service is beyond great! Very quiet and clean. They offer a five star breakfast buffet that includes both local and International food options. Our family enjoys the food and service a lot during our stay. The hotel room is spacious and beautiful. We will definitely book the hotel again when we visit XI’An next time!

We loved the GM, traveling as a family of 4 with 2 rooms. The GM is aged royalty, a bit past her prime, but she remains elegant, graceful, and comfortable. Great hotel for the money. We would happily return.

Felt great staying this place

I think this was the best stay in the whole China trip for me. I enjoyed the place, shower & bath, comfortable bed, breakfast, and hospitality staff. The location was a bit distanced from the station but taxi makes a big difference to come back here. I wish Japanese restaurant was open but I enjoyed the Chinese restaurant at Sofitel as well.

The building and the room has the old english theme which is very unique. i totally understand if the hotel management want to keep to the theme but some refurbishments are needed as the room look worn out i.e bathroom tiles, the cabinets, carpets. Overall, the room was clean and bed was comfortable.

Maybe I am just being mean for not giving this property a five star. The porperty is in a very good condition, not as close to the touristic areas within the city wall. Receptionists do not speak very good english but they did their very best to help me especially when I was contacting my Didi driver for my pick-up. I would definitely stay in this property again though.

The hotel was very good and I would generally recommend to anyone. However, if you stay, you should know that the hotel does not have a pool of its own, despite how it appears on the website. Instead, you have full access to the pool and spa at the Sofitel which is in the same complex. To reach the pool you do need to leave the Mercure, walk about 100 yards up a quiet road and access the Sofitel we did not know this when we booked and equally, did not have a problem with it when we realised. However, if you are looking for the pool and spa,to be in the same building, this might not be the hotel for you. Important to add here, the hotel staff did give us a free room upgrade. Our room was very comfortable and had one of the biggest beds I’ve ever seen (greater than super king). The Wi-Fi also did not work and no one we spoke to managed to get it to work either.

When we arrived at 10pm we were greeted by a room upgrade with a welcome cake for our anniversary: simply magnificent: brilliant location, staff excellent all the time, impossible to rate other than as 10/10. Only one small item to comment on: more a cultural difference than anything: the fridge was not cold, probably because the locals like warm drinks including beer. However, plenty of ice freely available on request. In summary, we loved it.

Decadent and outdated

The hotel is not only outdated but decadent. Installations, rooms, facilities, appliances, breakfast and almost everything are not even close to a grand mercure standard. One day, in the middle of the night there was a power shortage in our room (electrical installation malfunction) and the emergency light was lit on our faces making it necessary to call maintenance before morning and wait for repairs. It has haf its glory days but today couldn't be classified anything above 3 stars. On the positive side the bed was very good and comfortable.
