“Lovely, charming ryokan exactly as pictured. The omakase dinner was amazing and the breakfast was also very welcome. It’s in a very quiet part of the village so it’s very peaceful. One of the rooms has a patio great for chilling out and it’s almost dark enough at night to take photos of the Milky Way.
On a side note, I initially just wanted to drop my bags off in morning, but to my surprise, the owner allowed me to check-in early!
Highly recommended stay.

“+ Very helpful and friendly staff.
+ Detailed instructions given for late check-ins so you will not be messed up.
+ Reasonably cheap price for 3~4 people stay.
+ Beds are comfortable.
+ Safe and reliable electronic locks are used for both entrance and individual rooms.
- Location. If you take trams or JR trains to approach the hotel, a 15-min walk is required. Still, there is a bus line (Local bus no.63) going through the main street adjacent to the guesthouse.

“This is an old school honestly, but with nicely separated living spaces (shred bathrooms). Not squeaky clean, and a bit outdated…but human and not without charm. The owner is a super courteous dude. You may need a car as it is a few kilometers 40 minute walk from the train station. The payoff is the silence and chill vibes out here. I enjoyed my stay.

“My friend and I stayed for 1 night at Kominka Mitsuhama Ryokan in early November. We were very surprised by how much thought and effort was put into decorating this 100 year old house. It was truly an unforgettable experience staying there.
Our host was like a cherry on top of the whole experience. Even though we could only communicate in broken Japanese, he prepared English instructions for us so communication was not a problem. When we checked out, he even gave us a handwritten note and two……
