Good: The hotel is well located and impressive in its public areas. All the staff are friendly and polite The breakfast is very good Not so good: The room itself was not too impressive. The room was stuffy, safe didn’t work, and the shower was a trickle. Overall location 10 out of 10 so if you are out and about exploring York all day and arriving/departing by train it would be good choice. If you want to relax in your room then I would recommend a different room category or another hotel.

Comfortable and Convenient Hotel

Our stay in the hotel was comfortable and the hotel is located just adjacent to the train station. The breakfast is great. Yet the room may need some renovation as it actually getting old. During check-in, we were informed to pay for the hotel, which we already paid during the booking, but it was rectified once we spoke to the hotel staff during check-out.

The room was in an annexe that was reached by a corridor which contained a bucket collecting water and wet patches on the floor. The room was a good size but there was no chest of drawers for clothes. The sink had cold water with very low pressure and dangerously hot , hot water. I feel that the stay did not represent good value for money given the high price charged

Expected parking at hotel to be good. Not only were there no parking spaces available and we had to park on what can only be described as a muddy path - we had to pay £20.00 for the pleasure. Car didn’t seem safe - spoke to hotel staff who said later in the day there should be spaces as people were checking out. It did in fact get worse.

We stayed at the Milner about 4 years ago it was great but it has gone downhill considerably since our last visit. We managed to get a table for an evening meal on our first evening. We were lucky we got our meal at the same time so we ate together i watched other tables where one person got food and had finished by the time the other meal came up. Parking is £20 a day which you have to pay but there are only 60 spaces and we couldn't park. I am disabled and there were 3 cars in the bays with no blue badge. The reception said they had no way to monitor that. I think the carpark should be monitored as people parking and walking into york park for free. But we had to pay the £20 and can't park there because spaces are limited. They take your car registration number and should of informed the guests parked in the disabled spaces that did not have a badge. Prople also park in the carpark and walk into York could parking there for free. Parking tickets should be given to non residents. I was shocked when the receptionist said we rely on peoples good manors not to park in the disabled spaces that do not have a blue badge !! We didn't know about parking charges until we left and it was on our bill. We ordered an irish coffee in the lounge after dinner and it was really not up to much. They were £20 and not up to much I was disappointed as the weekend was a present. The positive is that it is in walking distance of York and we walked to the shops and market.

Het is een heel mooi hotel maar, het moet beter ingericht worden. Het heeft hele mooie items maar zo ondoordacht ingezet. Het personeel is aardig maar lijkt geen goede leiding te hebben. Te weinig ingewerkt om in een hotel te werken met allure. Het ontbijt is summier voor zo een hotel. Ook wordt er weinig tot geen aandacht besteed aan de aankleding en netheid van het ontbijt buffet. De kamers zijn prima maar er zou wat aanpassingen aan de verlichting kunnen gedaan worden. Ook de aanvulling in de badkamers voor cosmetisch doeleinden mag wat uitgebreider zijn. Ik de 3 nachten dat wij gelogeerd hebben is deze niet aangevuld. Er lagen alleen 2 glazen. Het zwembad is verouderd eveneens de jacuzzi en sauna’s. Overall: het is een prachtig hotel met een uitstekende basis in de victoriaanse stijl. Hier kun je iets econisch van maken met goede organisatie skills en weinig financiële middelen . Het zou het beste hotel van York kunnen worden…. Gezien vanuit mijn optiek als binnenhuisarchitect en bedrijfsorganisatie.

A large and historic property conveniently located adjacent to the rail station. It’s an architecturally significant building dating from when York was a foundational city during the industrialization. Everything about the hotel speaks to its historical relevance to railway. The room was OK, but in the basement with a view of a large brick wall. The room had air conditioning, but the bathroom was cold. The room was long and thin, but perhaps a little tired. There was a conference room next door, and the door closed very loudly. Soundproofing between the room and the corridor was not good. The staff were friendly. Access to the room was by a lift. There was no stair.access. There was a fire escape indicated opposite the room, but IT WAS LOCKED, because it was "a staff area" we were told. The alternative fire escape seemed to be down a very long and winding service corridor. This made us a little apprehensive. Fortunately, there was no fire during our stay. The breakfast was good. The location, next to York railway station and near the city centre was excellent.
