About this property
Moasis · Pool, Hot Tub, Conversation Pit, Hammocks
Summary:
Joshua trees stand all around Moasis, a black-clad brutalist home on five acres of western Yucca Valley, where lit stepping stones lead from the pool to the hot tub, the outdoor bar and the hammocks. Lounge on the pool's sun shelf through the afternoon, roll a few frames of bocce, then mix something at the wood-lined bar as the sky goes pink. After dark, the whole group sinks into the custom leather conversation pit. Three bedrooms, two baths, plenty of reasons to stay in.
The Space:
Moasis is a modern, brutalist home on five acres in western Yucca Valley, where raw materials and clean lines meet warm, contemporary furnishings. Tall ceilings and large windows fill the open gathering spaces with light, and a custom sunken conversation pit sits at the heart of the home. Green tile, cognac leather, light wood and an oversized snake sculpture give it a gallery-like edge without losing any comfort. Outside, a pool, a hot tub, an outdoor bar, bocce and hammocks spread across the property. With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, it suits families and small groups of up to six.

-Outdoor Amenities-
Five acres of open desert and Joshua trees give Moasis room for distinct outdoor areas, linked by stepping-stone paths. The pool has a shallow sun shelf, so you can stretch out half in the water with a drink in reach and watch the sunset from the front row.
A few steps away, the wood-lined outdoor bar has stools along the counter and the hot tub right beside it, and the round outdoor dining table sits under a Joshua tree for long, lazy meals. Roll a few frames on the bocce court before dinner comes off the grill. As it cools off, gather around the fire pit, then take a book from the home's collection out to the hammocks strung between wooden posts. After dark, solar designer lighting traces the pathways, the pool glows, and the stars take over.
-Living Area-
Step down into the custom sunken conversation pit, a circle of cognac leather cushions around a carved wood table beneath a sculptural chandelier. Generous pillows and blankets make it easy to settle in for a card game or a long talk, and the smart TV and speakers are ready for movie nights and music. For families with young children, the conversation pit has safety fencing. Around it, the oversized snake sculpture and desert-plant-inspired decor give the room its edge.
-Kitchen and Dining-
The open kitchen is spacious and easy to work in, with light wood cabinetry, open shelves against a deep green tile wall and a dark waterfall island under woven pendants, where friends can pull up a stool while you cook. Cookware, pantry essentials, oils and a coffee setup are provided. Take breakfast at the bar with the patio doors open, and save dinner for the outdoor dining area under the open sky.
-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-
The primary suite, on the south side of the home, overlooks the backyard in emerald green, black and warm beige, with large windows, blackout curtains and a private ensuite bathroom. The king room, on the north side, has far-reaching desert views, clay tones and the softest natural light in the home, a good choice for light-sensitive sleepers. The queen room sits in the center of the home, with lamplight instead of overhead lighting, a carved wood panel above the bed and a large area rug, an easy place to settle little ones. Both full bathrooms have walk-in showers and bold, modern tile, one in deep green and one in black-and-white graphic pattern with a round mirror.
-Surrounding Area-
Downtown Joshua Tree covers dinners and grocery runs, and the West Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park opens onto the park. Pioneertown, Pappy & Harriet's and the Red Dog Saloon make a good night out, and the lit paths lead you home.
