"okay so let's start with cleanliness. it's obvious the house wasn't cleaned before we got there or the sheets. The bed sheets smelled dusty and the bathroom smelled like urine. The shower had someone's else hair on the walls and floor. The pool was not heated even though it did say it was. There's no tv which was okay to disconnect. there's no AC which was fine since it was cool at night and they did provide a fan. definitely make sure to stop by the supermarket to get food because restaurants...

Be prepared to climb quite a distance by foot on a narrow path. There is lots to do in San Marcos and the neighbouring towns of San Juan and Panajachel are a must visit. "The hotel room was fine. Not at all like was shown in the pictures. Mold in the corners of the room. The bathroom window, which opened out on to a corridor wouldn't lock either. The shower was hot or cold and the room lacked basics like a full length mirror or anywhere to hang clothes. The room had a small private terrace (which was overlooked by someone's bathroom). "Visitors must be aware of the steep, difficult climb from the main road. Fit folx in their 20s and 30s won't be too fussed, but we're pretty fit for our 50s and it was a real effort. Handrails leading up to the yurts would make an excellent safety addition. We stayed in the top yurt (#4) and the views are tremendous and worth the big climb. We requested breakfast delivery in the am and it arrived on time! Delicious. Recommend this relatively new destination!"

"The room it's self was beautiful and the view from bed was world class! The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious with a nice closet space and a huge bathroom. We loved sitting on the porch and watching the view. Walking from the dock to the hotel was more confusing than I would have thought. Probably just paying the little kids at the dock to carry our luggage and show us the way would have saved us a grumpy moment of getting lost while carrying heavy backpacks. Lots of wonderful restaurants are very walkable. The hotel restaurant was sadly closed while we were there but the menu looks amazing. "
