Very lovingly furnished house in picturesque mountain village

The two landlords are two loving elderly people who take touching care of their guests. The house is furnished with great attention to detail and hardly leaves anything to be desired. The mountain village in which the house is located is tiny but beautifully situated. If you want a quiet holiday, this is the place for you. The only downside is the 15-minute drive up the mountain on a road that is not exactly flat. However, I can recommend the house without hesitation and enjoyed my stay very much.

Absolutely Amazing Stay in Casa La Torre

We had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful location for three weeks in May. The town is a quite hillside, walled village that is away from the hustle of tourists but close enough to visit all of Umbria's best hillside towns. A car is required. The apartment is very well serviced with two large bedrooms and two bathrooms and is very comfortable for two couples. The terrace overlooks the hillsides and the tiled rooftops of the village. The kitchen is fully equipped with all you will need and the living space is large and comfortable with a fireplace. Its location in the main square makes it unique. Be sure to visit the resturant in the town for a special meal and experience. We would highly recommend this stay.

Perfect stay! A+++++++++++++++++ Graziemille!

From start to finish, everything was perfect. The owner was quick to respond to any questions prior to arrival. The drive up to the hilltop village is breathtaking! Be certain to follow the owners directions for an easy drive from Aquasparta. We were greeted upon arrival by the owners who were incredibly warm and friendly. They even presented us with a beautiful pastry, olive oil from his trees and a bottle of premium of Umbrian wine. The house (tower) dates from 1000AD and even has a medieval dagger displayed that was discovered during renovations! The house is large and spacious, beautifully decorated and offers beautiful views of the mountainous countryside from the rooftop terrace. We have never stayed at a cleaner vacation rental, even the sheets were ironed. There is a lovely fireplace to enjoy on a chilly evening. The kitchen is beautifully equipped with everything you would ever need. The tiny village offers peace and tranquility. The owners were at our disposal and even came to check up and see how we were doing. It is a perfect base for exploring Umbria. We were sad to go and it was the highlight of our month in Italy. We look forward to our return! Graziemille!

In un bel borgo Umbro, la casa esattamente come descritto nell'annuncio. Completa di ogni comodità e molto pulita. I proprietari molto gentili e disponibili a suggerimenti sui luoghi da visitare. Ideale per gli amanti della natura (il borgo è immerso nel verde) e per chi vuole scoprire le bellezza Umbre. Per raggiungere il Borgo è necessario percorrere strade di montagna (ma ne vale la pena!)

Perfect location in a small mountain village

This house, located at the small mountain village Macerino, is perfect when you want to enjoy the silence of nature. You are staying 650 meters above sea level. The road to the village is very small and sometimes bumpy. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the house from Acuasparta (this is the best way to get up the mountain). Maria and her husband did made our stay perfect. A bottle of wine and a pie at arrival. Towels, bedsheets everything is there. The contact during our stay was perfect. There are 2 swimmingpools nearby, 2 restaurants (not open every day) and a small shop. Shopping can best be done in Terni. If you are doing this, first go down the mountain to Acquasparta and from here to Terni. We found out this was the best way to travel down and up the mountain. So if you are looking for a unique, traditional and silent location. This is one of the places to be !!

Vier weken vakantie ''La Torre'' in Macerino

Het vier verdiepingen vakantiehuis in Macerino aan het kerkpleintje is ons prima bevallen. Het huis was kraakhelder en de bedden waren opgemaakt met gestreken linnen en er was voldoende linnengoed aanwezig. Het linnengoed werd in overleg iedere week verwisseld. De gastheer en zijn vrouw waren zeer behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Beginnende met een fles lokale wijn en een zelfgebakken crostata bij aankomst. Het huis ligt op een berg op 700 meter hoogte. Het is verstandig om de opgegeven route in de beschrijving te volgen omdat dit verreweg de beste weg naar het huis is. Wijzelf hadden geen probleem met de aanrijtijd van 20 Minuten om bij het huis te komen, we vonden de weg elke keer weer mooi ! Er zijn vele bezienswaardigheden en leuke stadjes binnen een straal van 70 KM rond het huis, genoeg te doen dus. Groet Dirk en Anneke

Una vacanza tra cultura e relax

Un posto magnifico dove trascorrere un periodo di assoluto relax. I Proprietari sono gentilissimi e ci hanno accolto con un'ottima crostata e ottimo vino. La struttura è dotata di ogni confort e molto pulita, non manca nulla. La Torre è posta in un luogo che ci ha permesso di visitare l'Umbria e nel contempo essere fuori dal mondo in un contesto di pace e tranquillità.

Casa perfettamente contestualizzata con l'ambiente del borgo medievale

I proprietari della casa sono ospitali, gentili, precisi e disponibili. I prodotti che ci hanno offerto all'arrivo erano deliziosi: un'ottimo dolce fatto in casa, olio extravergine squisito e un ottimo vino. La casa è perfettamente inserita nel contesto del borgo medievale. Gli arredi sono in armonia con l'ambiente e al tempo stesso sono comodi e funzionali. Gli spazi sono molto ampi e confortevoli, i letti comodi e in ogni stanza è presente qualsiasi accessorio di cui si possa avere bisogno. La vista dalla terrazza è splendida. E' possibile ammirare il borgo e tutte le colline circostanti. La tranquillità è massima. In generale consiglio vivamente di soggiornare in questa struttura. Gli ultimi km per raggiungere il borgo sono di strada sterrata e risultano piuttosto impegnativi.

Umbria mountain hideway.

Wonderful house in a beautiful medieval village up in the mountains. We stayed 9 nights and had a very relaxing experience. Excellent facilities with a large terrace offering terrific views of the area. Our host Maria was very helpful and at our disposal. There are some challenging mountain roads to come and go on but the reward of this house is worth the effort. We highly recommend staying here!

Very charming tower in a quite mountain village

The tower is an extremely charming and convenient place to stay. We very much enjoyed our stay in this historical, yet perfectly modernized building, and Maria and Franco made us feel welcome from the very beginning. The house is well equipped with everything one needs on a vacation and the thick walls keep the temperature inside at a comfortable level, even if it is really hot outside. From the roof terrace, on which we enjoyed almost all our meals, one has a fabulous view over the sorrounding mountain range. The tower is situated immediately besides the church, the bells of which starts belling at 8 am, which fitted perfectly to our daily rhythm. The only (minor) disadvantage of the location are the somewhat rough and narrow roads to the village; it takes about 15 minutes to reach bigger roads, and so travelliing to interesting towns in Umbria (and in our case to trail heads) takes a bit longer than usual.

Quiet haven

There is nothing that we can find to say negative about this wonderful place. It was amazing from start to finish, the beautiful village unspoiled Italy at its best located in the quietest and most wonderful countryside. Surrounded by forests and peace and tranquillity. The views are breathtaking. The place itself is spotlessly clean everything is thought of and Well equipped. From the sun loungers on the roof Terrace where we had breakfast lunch and an early aperitif. Unfortunately the weather was a bit chilly in the evening so we retired to the comfort of the sitting room and lit the fanatic open fire which was so well vented and my husband cooked chestnuts in the ashes which was amazing. The owners Maria and Franco are so helpful and polite and take pride in the place which shows throughout the property. If you are looking for a place that gives you peace and quiet away from it all but with amenities in the house of every sortThis is the place for you. Like the people before we found thee Drive to the house a little interesting don’t take any other road then the road which the owners advise you and keep going even if you think you are on the wrong road. It’s well worth it The place is located a fantastically for visiting the local area and further afield. If you love Italy and Italian hilltop villages.This is the place for you. Like the people we found the drive a little testing don’t take any other road down the road which the owners advise you and keep going even if you think you are on the wrong road but do you mind some of the potholes. You can’t get peace and tranquillity like this without a little bit of driving I guess. The place is located fantastically for visiting the local area and further afield. We can wholeheartedly recommend you stay here if you do love peace and tranquillity and want to experience the real Italy.

A perfect getaway

Maria & Franco's lovely villa charmed us the moment we arrived. We were greeted with red begonia blooms hung in window planters and urns by the front door and then my Maria & Franco arriving with a bottle of Umbrian wine and Maria's delicious homemade blackberry pie. Their villa is beautifully restored and furnished very comfortably, and the kitchen well-equipped. The village of Macerino is quiet and somewhat remote but close enough to visit several surrounding towns - Orvieto, Spello, Todi, and many more. It's just the place to be if you want to avoid lots of tourists. We loved its charm and the views from the upstairs balcony. The convenience of a washing machine for our laundry was an added plus but most of all, Maria & Franco made our visit a memorable one.

Très bel endroit

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour dans ce village médiéval typique de l Ombrie . Maria et Franco nous ont fait un accueil chaleureux et nous ont bien expliquer tout ce que l’on pouvait faire dans les environs .Nous sommes une famille avec 3 enfants de 10ans 7ans et 4ans l’habitation est tout à fait accessible et confortable. Rome est accessible à 1h de train de Terni mais plus proche vous pourrez découvrir le site de Carsulae , Spoleto et bien d autres! Merci à Maria et Franco d’avoir contribué à nos belle vacances! Si vous cherchez un endroit reposant et différent du tourismes de masses cet endroit est fait pour vous! Maria et Franco se feront une joie de vous accueillir ! PS: Maria auriez vous la recette de votre tarte ?;)

Fabulous

We spent 11 nights in this beautiful property and enjoyed every minute. Franco and Maria were very welcoming with a bottle of wine and home made tart waiting for us on arrival. The house is spotlessly clean with everything you needed in the well stocked kitchen. We loved the terrace which was south facing and perfect for dinner and a glass of wine after a day spent sight seeing. The shower was good as was the excellent WiFi, fast and reliable and a real bonus. We would recommend taking the road from Portaria rather than Spoleto to reach the house as it was slightly shorter and not as uneven as the Spoleto road. This is an isolated hamlet which we loved, the peace and tranquility was perfect. Although it was isolated it was perfectly situated to explore the surrounding area. The restaurant in Macerino was very good, food was delicious and a set menu of 5 courses for €25. We would recommend booking to ensure a table. Carrefour in Terni was open on a Sunday 24 hours, most supermarkets close at 1pm Sundays. Conads in Acquasparta was good but we preferred Coop in Todi if we were out for the day. There is parking outside the house. I can’t recommend this property more highly, is was an absolute gem. 10/10. Thank you Franco and Maria for your hospitality.

Casa La Torre is a tranquil and relaxing retreat from a hectic world. A place of comfort and beauty

Our negotiation of the twisting and sometimes rough road to Macerino from Acquasparta was rewarded with a beautifully restored home with tasteful art and modern appointments. The home was even larger and more comfortable than anticipated and the pictures can’t do justice to the views and the ambience. Maria and Franco are as warm and welcoming in person as in their email correspondence. They ensured that we knew how to use everything in the house and Maria even greeted us with a wonderful homemade tart. Macerino itself is a peaceful hilltop village, perfect for evening strolls. The terrace became a favorite place for antipasto and wine in the evening. We had two dinners in Ristorante la Fontana in the village. The restaurant has been run for 44 years by mother and daughter. The trophies above the bar attest to their skill as chefs, but even that could not prepare us for the amazing five course meal presented with warmth and pride. Every dish was perfectly prepared and presented at the perfect temperature. The homemade pastas were superlative. I would recommend Casa La Torre and the Macerino experience to anyone seeking peace and restoration who is comfortable driving the backroads. Your efforts to reach Macerino will be well rewarded. Bravo Maria and Franco for making their piece of paradise available.

Wunderschöner erholsamer Urlaub

Das Ferienhaus ist super gepflegt und liebevoll eingerichtet. Es waren alle Dinge, welche man in der Küche benötigt, vorhanden: Spüli, Öl, Kaffee, Salz... Das die Bettwäsche und Handtücher (wunderbar weich) im Preis inbegriffen sind, ist natürlich auch super! Das Ferienhaus ist in einem sehr kleinen Bergdorf, aber es herrscht absolute Stille (vor allem Nachts). Die Anfahrt sicher etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber typisch italienisch eben. Im Ort ist ein winzig kleiner Minimarkt, in dem es die wichtigsten Dinge gibt. Nebenan ist ein Restaurant, in welchem man auf Vorbestellung essen kann. Dazwischen eine kleine typische italienische Bar, wo man auf ein Bier sitzen kann. Weiterhin gibt es noch ein Schwimmbad (gehört zu einem Feriendorf), hier hat der Obolus pro Person allerdings 5 Euro betragen, was sich bei mehreren Leuten natürlich schnell summiert. Was wir empfehlen können, ist das Ristorante Pesciaioli in dem Ort Portaria. Wir sind von unserem Ferienhaus aus dorthin gewandert (ca. 2 Stunden) und haben super leckeres und authentisches und preiswertes Essen bekommen - so wie wir uns es immer vorgestellt haben :-) Bei Messenano, ca. 1,5 Std. Wanderzeit, erreicht man einen traumhaften Stausee mit tollem Wasser. Wir waren allerdings nicht drin baden. In Spolento ist man auch in ca. einer halben Stunde, diese Stadt können wir auch nur empfehlen. Hier gibt es natürlich auch Supermärkte, wir haben aber auch in Acquasparta im Conad eingekauft, sehr gute Qualität! Besonders hervorzuheben sind die beiden superfreundlichen Gastgeber. Wir wurden mit Kuchen und Wein empfangen und sie waren immer da, wenn es Fragen gab. Verständigung war auf englisch möglich. Alles in allem ein toller und erholsamer Urlaub!

Truly beautiful 3-storey house in a very quiet village. Lovely views from the terrace.

We can't say enough good things about the warm welcome we received from Maria Donata and Franco! They were very responsive to all of our questions and requests. The house is beautifully furnished and the kitchen is fully equipped. There is even a swimming pool in the village (small fee)! The location is perfect for visiting Spoleto, Todi, Narni, Montefalco and other Umbrian towns. Of the two country roads into the village, we recommend the one from Spoleto: it is longer than the one from Acquasparta but it is wider. We hope you enjoy Casa La Torre as much as we did.

Simply charming!

Our stay at Casa La Torre was simply perfect! The lovely house is situated in a charming medieval "borgo", with a marvelous view over the valley and the mountain side. The house was equipped just as advertised, and provided a comfortable stay for two couples and a baby (two bedrooms, two bathrooms, additional crib and chair for the baby). The facilities were neat and clean. Maria Donata and her husband were very caring and provided us with clean bedlinen, towels, logs for the fire side and even home made cake! Macerino is a lovely little hamlet and every single one of the few inhabitants is absolutely charming. During our stay off-season, the three restaurants and the swimming pool were not in their regular service, but we were able to have dinner and go for a swim just by asking. The mini market was open most of the time and provided us with basic foodstuffs. For larger grocery shopping there are supermarkets in Terni and Acquasparta (20 or 30 minutes by car). Macerino can only be reached by car (ca. 30 minutes from Terni, Central Station). The roads that lead up the mountain are rather rough and you have to drive carefully. We can absolutely recommend this holiday home for families or groups of friends who want to enjoy the amazing Umbrian mountain side, go for hikes and excursions to the medieval cities nearby (Terni, Acquasparta, San Gemini, Spoleto, Orvieto, Assisi etc.), and have an authentic experience of the area. 5 Stars!

Vacances en Ombrie

La localisation et la situation de Macerino en font un lieu de rêve, paisible et central pour découvrir cette partie de l'Ombrie entre Spolète, Orvieto et Pérouse. La maison est vraiment très confortable pour une famille de 5. Elle possède une terrase (solarium) au point de vue incomparable (le jour comme la nuit -pas de pollution lumineuse-) et un baby foot dont les parties sont vite devenues un point incontournable de la journée ! Maria Donata Orsini et son mari sont accessibles, prévenants et d'une grande gentillesse avec les mauvais locuteurs italiens que nous sommes(ce que nous regrettons bien), toujours de bon conseil pour les visites (pédestres ou culturelles). On se comprend tout de même parfaitement en anglais. Une semaine ne suffit pas, il y a énormément de choses à faire dans ce petit coin protégé d'Italie.
