Small and very dated room, small bathroom, horrible uncomfortable beds, you feel like you’re going to roll out because bed is higher in the middle, pillows too thick and uncomfortable, AC didn’t work, no bathmat, seedy area, street noise. Staff not friendly and have no customer service skills. Don’t stay here!

My daughter and i were given a room both arriving in Anchorage and AGAIN leaving Anchorage in sketchy areas of the hotel. The night we were leaving, we left the hotel (yes, I want to be refunded) for a hotel that charged us $265.00. But we were given MUCH SAFER accommodations. Puffin Inn, you dropped the ball for safety. Please let me know how i can be refunded the money I spent. Thank you.

When we finally checked in, our room was like 92 degrees. We asked to be moved to another room where the air conditioner worked. Also, we were there early and had to wait pass check in time to be able to check in. They finally moved us to another room that was great.

Property is convenient and breakfast was sufficient. Person who checked us in was not friendly nor helpful when we asked questions about the laundry facilities. One comforter had a stain on the top and when pulled covers down there was a giant bumblebee in the bed. No likey. For the price it was adequate.

Only gave us 1 key, no bathmat in the bathroom. Handicap Bathroom recently refurbished and nice. Bed nailed to wall with only 6” to wall on 1 side. We’re nearing 80s, 6” is not enough space to get out of bed. Especially because room was large enough to accommodate more room around the bed. Nice carpet, wood furniture well worn. Pricey for what we got. Transport van to airport was late too. Coffee for 1 cup, but not enough for 2 people.

The facility and grounds appeared to be well maintained and the location offers quick access to the airport plus a nearby lakefront park for a short morning walk. During 2 separate stays, there was a pattern of common issues in each room: i.e. noisy bathroom fans, warped, bathroom doors that would not close properly, significant ice accumulation in the refrigerator, sunken mattresses. Again, this was 2 rooms and may not reflect the entire hotel. This is subjective, so for us, we place significant emphasis on customer service. This is where the Puffin Inn really lost points in our opinion. First impressions can really set the tone for a hotel stay started off bad and continued from there.. In fairness, we interfaced with 7 different staff members across two separate stays so there could be other staff members who provide excellent customer service. However, the staff that we encountered did not result in a positive experience. Four travelers in our group unanimously voted the Puffin in last place for service and friendliness. If the management team is interested, I would be happy to provide supporting details.

We were put in a 2nd floor room that was next to an exterior entrance to all the floors. The door continually opened and banged shut on each floor. Probably delivery service? One of our queen beds didn’t have pillows, and the window in our room was not able to be closed by me. They are doing renovations and that’s probably why part of our room was missing the border around the floor. Would definitely request a room not near the exterior doors

The rooms listed online in the pictures are not the rooms that I got. We got the rooms in the hotel around the corner. Not at all what was pictured. Staff did not care. Expensive for what it was. Nothing exceptional the super eight was better.

The Puffin Hotel was a MOTEL & a DUMP! Rooms were freezing cold & the water SMELLED! It was overpriced & NO amenities. The elevator only serviced half of the motel. Breakfast was a joke. Total rip off. Staff was ok & not their fault. It was clean but property is a dive. Owners should be ashamed of themselves.

We ended up not staying at this property upon arrival there were several water remediation vehicles in the parking lot with hoses into the building, dirt and trash all over and an extremely high population of unhoused people walking about in groups and sitting on sidewalks. Honestly if you are thinking like how bad can it be...that bad!!! We ended up staying at another hotel and didn't receive a refund but that is OK because it was super scarey and dirty.

The airport shuttle was great. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The inn is old and crusty, but are currently remodeling. The area is pretty sketchy and out Uber driver told us the motel down the road got shut down for drugs and prostitution, it was fine for our overnight stay, but wouldn’t want to spend any extended time here or stay here with kids.
