This is our second trip to this beautiful, historic inn; the first time was about 10 yrs ago. Back then, we received a warm welcome, keys and an invitation to a complimentary happy hour in the dining room. There, we heard the fascinating history of this property. Now, it is hosted through email. We were requested to download an app, and were assigned a code to unlock our door. It didn’t work. I called for assistance and was told I’d probably get another email with a different code and to try that. I did, it worked. (If it didn’t, the kind human (who was at an affiliated property nearby) was going to make us a key and waive the normal $10 fee(!).) To summarize, the check-in process was automated and problematic when instead it should be welcoming and showcase the character of this special place.

Das Hotel ist abgerockt. Wir hatten Zimmer/Room 6. Farbe auf dem Fussboden, durchgelegene Matratzen, Rost in der Badewanne, Dusche verkalkt, keine Klima Anlage die man selbst steuern kann, angerosteter Wecker, unter den Betten dreckig, kabel nur halb in der Steckdoese usw.... . Nicht zu empfehlen !!! Kein Personal vor Ort, Alles über das Handy und zur Not eine Telefonnummer, wo sich keiner zurück meldet. Wir sind in ein anderes Hotel gezogen, In das The Gibson Inn, nur zu Empfehlen.

Keyless entry worked great. No one there - unfriendly. No information about what to see and do in the area. Had we not walked over to the main bldg, we would not have picked up the 2 brochures available: one on the b & b we were staying in and 1 with walking tour of city which was nice. No restaurant/store info. Nothing on boat rentals, fishing excursions, etc.

Unfortunately, this is not a place that I would ever stay again. The check-in process involves one key so if you are not very app-savvy, forget about it. No one man's the registration desk at all so there is no help to be had. Luckily for us, the housekeeper was cleaning one of the rooms and she was able to help us out. We were placed in a room directly next to the reception desk and the noise all night long was terrible and the light coming from the reception area filtered through the flimsy curtains that we're on the door. Definitely not a place to stay if you are looking for peace and quiet or any amenities at all

Teleurstellend verblijf. Bij het inchecken was niemand aanwezig, we moesten bellen naar een telefoonnummer. Na eindeloos overgaan en opnieuw gebeld iemand aan de telefoon die vertelde dat de sleutel in de brievenbus buiten lag. De kamer bleek niet schoongemaakt te zijn. Weer gebeld, na 15 minuten is er iemand gekomen en kregen we een andere kamer. Het huis is schitterend maar de kamer kan een goede schoonmaak beurt gebruiken, er lag overal dik stof. In de 2 dagen dat we er waren hebben we niemand gezien, dus ook geen schone handdoeken. We hadden een kamer op de begane grond met glazen deuren waar een vitrage voor hing. In de hal (receptie) brandde 24 uur een felle lamp die dus in de kamer scheen en waardoor we nauwelijks hebben geslapen. Enige pluspunt: een hele vriendelijke kat die op de achter veranda vertoeft.

An older home converted to an Airbnb. This home is perfect in so many ways. Has old time personality, with modern convenience. We rented two rooms that more than met our requirements. Both rooms were as advertised. Check-in was done remotely with no problems and followed up with a phone call. We couldn't have asked for anything more and WILL be staying at the Coombs Inn & Suites again. Note: The outside Cat was a welcome attraction for my Sister-in-law who was missing her cat at home.

No one on reception. Anyone could just walk in and then there was a sign saying call a number and someone will remotely check us in . Cost a fortune to call and then ages for them to answer. They told us our key was outside in the mailbox. We let ourselves into our room which was all in darkness, even though they said that they had left the lights on. Light and fan in room didn’t work. On our return from dinner there was someone at the reception desk, but they totally ignored us . The room had seen better days. I was disappointed that Expedia even promote this property.

Stay elsewhere!
Very disappointed. Nobody at reception desk to greet us or answer questions. My room wasn't very clean. No place to hang clothes... wardrobe had no hangers and drawers were too dirty to lay clean clothing in. Levolor blinds had no handles to close them. Glass paneled doors into room from lobby had only sheers. Light from lobby illuminated my room all night. Toilet seat was loose. Room had a Keurig coffee maker, but there were no pods available. Positives: Good location and comfy mattress.

Room for Improvement
This is a very cute property in a great location and we'll be happy to stay here again. However, the front desk was not staffed for a 6pm check-in. We called a help number that was displayed at the front desk, but no answer. A patron, who was searching for coffee pods, told us our check-in packet could de found in the mailbox. To be fair, I discovered that a voicemail message had been left on my mobile giving check-in details. The room was very nice. There was a Keurig coffee maker, but no pods. I don't mind that the front desk wasn't staffed, but please pick up the help line and please provide complementary coffee pods.

The hotel was beautiful. I arrived and learned that there was a new no-contact check-in procedure & that I had to call to complete. My phone had no service at all! Lucky for me, another guest happened upon me as I tried futility to contact someone. He showed me where my room key was & voila! Everything was great. I would have appreciated having a desk as it was a work trip, otherwise very comfortable and quaint.

Schade, vor 9 Jajren war diese Adresse top.
Das Zimmer war sauber. Die Veranda ungepflegt, schmutzig, Kehricht voll, allrs voll Hundehaare. Es wird nur das Geld genommen und nichts in das Haus investiert.

This was our second stay at this property. Very nice and vintage. Our room had a nice little private porch. Unfortunately, it rained so we didn't get to use it. We like this place because of the accessibility to everything in Apalachicola. It's not directly in town, but five-minute walk. The only downside was not being able to control your own room AC. Although it was cool initially, it would get warm throughout the night and there was no way to get cooler. Overall would stay here again, just in cooler month.
