The dirt trail running roughly alongside the Orkhon River is actually one of Mongolia's main numbered roads. As you drive it Soviet era concrete kilometre post can still be seem jutting out of the pasture land.
One of the best sunsets I've ever seen. Can't wait to get back to Mongolia.
This was a 5 second exposure in the middle of the Central Valley in Mongolia. At a spot called Orkhon Falls.
It may be bleak outside but the eternal
blue sky of Mongolia chases the blues away. #Blue Travel photos
There is an area of sand dunes not far from the old capital of Kharkhorum where you can ride bactrian camels. These ones were very well kept.
I love this photo because it captures a few things quintessential to the Mongolian landscape. On the left is a Shamanic teepee for honoring the elements and making wishes for good fortune. On the right you see herders washing their clothes in hot springs. There are 63 (or there abouts) hot springs across the country. The wide steppes go on forever beyond the dusting of early snow. And then there's a sky - a beautiful element for sure!

It was time to take down the gers for winter. It was fascinating to see how quickly the layers and the structure could be removed from the ger. We were on our Autumn break and had a deep fall of snow overnight.
