"It was a nice hotel. Very big and beautiful lobby. There was a destination fee at check in of around $140 (non-refundable) and a $300 incidental fee that’s refundable after checkout. That was not expected and a lot of money to foot all at start of trip. But other than that, check in was smooth sailing.
The room was run-down and in major need of an upgrade. Very disappointing! For instance, shabby looking carpet, older and dusty furniture. The chaise lounge had very noticeable stains and spots. The bathroom was very gross looking—toilet had like permanent staining inside. There was hair on the sink and floor from previous guest, so goes to show the room isn’t cleaned properly.
The room service was good, they did replace towels and made the beds daily, that was appreciated. The bedding and towels were visibly clean and no issues. The rest of the room just gave an icky vibe.
There’s no room service nor breakfast served, which we understand beforehand. There is a market shop in lobby that has a weird system of allowing $15 credit towards purchases daily if you charge the room. Market prices were extreme (I mean, sort of expected in NYC) but still, $18 for a breakfast sandwich with no side or drink included is a bit much. Silver lining, food was fresh and tasted great. But we had to eat it on lobby bench, no tables or comfortable seating are provided in the market."
