Peaceful Stay

Great place to stay. All amenities and then some. Fatemeh greeted us, showed us around, and explained everything before retreating to the basement. We took our cat and he was quite comfortable once he got to sniff around. Cozy place and very friendly host.

Quiet home in Barrie, just a show walk to beach, 5 min drive to downtown.

What a lovely, cozy place. We had so much fun. Very relaxing, it was nice to have a comfortable living room and full kitchen to prepare meals for the four of us. We enjoyed being able to sit out on the patio relax and catch up. Bedrooms were very comfortable. Being just two blocks off the beach and a five minute drive to the downtown area was a big plus too. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet enjoyable get away convenient to lake Simcoe attractions. And a big plus for Fatemeh, who is a very gracious host.

It may have been my mistake but I was not expecting the renter and a man to be staying in basement… also continuously heard them walking up the stairs to the door to I assume listen to us and then walk back down. There was also a camera in backyard garden area pointed towards kitchen window which was not told to me. The rented being in backyard often we felt we couldn’t use backyard. Communication was good via text but when there English was very difficult for renter. Also we wasted time and gas bc the renter did not mention that there are 2?exact address for 3 different places ..: she forgot to mention that so went 25 mins out of my way.

Clearly the owners live in the home when not rented. Cluttered with personal effects, way too many rules (couldnt use the towel on the only towel bar in the bathroom, couldn’t open windows or touch thermostat) but left tablet and was returned immediately.

The place felt like we were not in a place designed to be rented out, but like we were invading someones home. There were too many furniture and personal effects around the vrbo, including photos of kids. While the unit had a numbered lock, the host insisted on meeting at the door, giving a tour, and giving the code in person instead of through the vrbo app.
Why have a towel there if you don't want it used?
These weren't our sandals by the tub. Also, there was someone's personal bar of soap in the tub area.
This is not a toilet that is ready for guest use. While a few guests might find the bars useful, most find them in the way.
All surfaces were covered with plastic.

Iwanted to be close to my mom, it was convenient for that. I cook meals for my mom too and the place was not equipped for that, the iven didn't work properly, took 5 hrs for lasagna! The kitchen is very tiny and has cluster all over it so room wasn't efficient and pots provided not adequate. My biggest concern was the landlord lived there with her grown son and they could hear me and I them! It was too cool to sit outside but you wouldn't have privacy, they argued alot. The house is very old so the cleanliness was affected, mold in places. The landlord was very pleasant but obviously lived in the rented part. Room was locked, cupboards locked, signes everywhere of what not to do or touch. There's one towel bar in the bathroom and a sign telling you not to remove or use the towel, and a pair of shoes underneath. Weird

If privacy is your thing…

The house was quaint, quiet, and situated in a lovely location. Everything we needed was thoughtfully provided, making our stay comfortable. However, there were a couple of drawbacks to note. The two large windows in the back of the house, located in the kitchen and living room, lacked proper window coverings that close, which made the space feel less private. Additionally, the upstairs bathroom window had no covering at all. While it’s high enough that someone might assume privacy, I personally feel more comfortable with a covered window in such a space.Another point to consider is the laundry situation. The laundry is not in the unit, and you’ll need to coordinate with the homeowner to schedule a time to use it. During my laundry session, the homeowner stayed nearby and observed the entire process, which felt a bit uncomfortable. The homeowner was very kind but, I reached out with a question on the first night and didn’t receive a response until the following day, which might be a challenge if you need assistance promptly.Overall, it’s a very well-kept and pleasant home, ideal for a family stay. With a few adjustments for privacy and communication, it could be an even better experience! Beautiful home, nice people, great location.!
