It's an old but updated place, however pricey. The old lingers. But if it's downtown you want, walking distance to everything, then it's good. Staff was helpful. If you have big bags, front entrance is a challenge, maybe the back.

Large clean, clean room is a quiet area. Staff were very, very helpful pointing us where to go walking and what to see in the city. Arrived from a river tour very early and they got us into the room early. Standard full breakfast the next morning was good.

Generally a nice property, but room design was awkward, shower design even more uncomfortable. Very nice bed. Air conditioning hard to control. So-called “garden” was little more than a smoker’s area. Dining room stuffy and too hot. Breakfast was just ok.

A member of my party was under the weather by the time we reached Basel. I had contacted them asking to see if we could have an earlier check-in to rest. The staff on duty got us in earlier than scheduled and was utterly sweet. Hats off to you and your team of understanding polyglots. We had booked an upstairs/downstairs room. The novelty wore out quickly, because there was only one sink/bathroom upstairs. Not their fault. We learn. We were also fortunate that when we got in, there was a huge fair running outside the hotel. We had food and fun times without going too far!
