Totally wonderful say in Brian and Sheila’s barn.
Totally wonderful say in Brian and Sheila’s barn. Situated in the hamlet of Ashburnham, 15 minute drive outside of Battle you can truly get away from it all.
The barn is spacious and furnished to a high spec. Loved the John Lewis crockery and induction hob. Bathroom had decent water pressure and the bed was comfortable. The log burner was lovely yet the underfloor heating kept the property toasty and warm. Could have done with another small table in the sitting/dining area!
No real negatives to report! Would have liked more than a pint of milk In the fridge after turning up late on a Friday but this is really nitpicking!

My wife and I have just spent a few days in this pretty barn conversion (our stay was sadly curtailed by the start of the second Covid lockdown). . We are delighted we made the wise choice of renting this property. It is ideally placed to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside.
We found the property to be very clean and easy to operate. The furnishings were both comfortable and practical. The kitchen area provided us with all the facilities and equipment we could have needed to cater for ourselves. The washer dryer would have been of benefit had we stayed longer. The bedroom was a little cramped but the bed suited us well having a firm, supportive mattress. The bathroom was well appointed. The shower over the bath worked fine – there was always plenty of hot water although it would be awkward for people with restricted mobility, the side of the bath being quite tall.
Our hosts were very kind and thoughtful. There was milk in the fridge with coffee, tea and sugar available. We were even offered the opportunity to join their grocery delivery when the circumstances changed during our stay.
Although we had plenty of overnight rain, we were mostly fortunate to have dry days. We took the opportunity to use a couple of the walking routes which were available to guests in the detailed folder in the property. Our wellington boots were a necessity with so many muddy paths at this time of the year.
There is a wonderful country pub within a 5 minute drive or a 20 minute cross-country walk where we had a fabulous Sunday lunch. The tranquility of the property and the gorgeous scenery from the door step will live long in the memory. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to future renters and we would gladly visit again in the future, having left so much undone during our brief stay.

A very well equipped property which is in a very quiet location. Perfect getaway for two people. Ideal for exploring this part of the country. Several NT sites within easy reach as well as a very interesting town in Battle itself. The property itself has everything you need including washer/dryer and a dishwasher. Reliable WiFi if you need one. Would highly recommend.

Excellent, well planned small barn conversion in a lovely, secluded location; ideal for couples.
Excellent, well planned small barn conversion in a lovely, secluded location; ideal for couples. Very well equipped with a wide range of amenities within a short driving distance. A good base for seeing the East Sussex area. the owners are very helpful and contribute to an enjoyable stay. This was our second stay and we'd happily stay again. We know the area well having lived in East Sussex in the past and we visited the area often after moving to London.

Best cottage we have stayed in.
Best cottage we have stayed in. Remote and country lanes to negotiate but a lovely quiet setting. Cosy in strong winds and heavy rain. Good base for touring. Exceptionally well stocked. Perfect information and instructions . Highly recommended.

I had a fantastic week at Little Midge Barn.
I had a fantastic week at Little Midge Barn. It is kn a remote area so you can’t walk over to the pub to get a bit social. So you just have to be aware of this. I enjoyed the location, being out on the countryside with fantastic views around the house. The house has everything you need even if it’s small. I love the bathtub and that the cottage feels both rustic and modern at the same time.
