"I rent through VRBO multiple times per year for business and pleasure and this was by far the worst experience and a first for me. The home was not properly maintained, many of the appliances did not work; dishwashers were reporting error codes and could not wash the dishes. Upon arriving, I noticed that the dishes were dirty with residual food & spots, being that I had clients arriving, I spent hours attempting to run them through the (2) dishwashers only to find I had to wash them all by hand. There was mold in the tray of the Keurig. We didn't have hot water for showers. The VRBO property listing had indicated (7) bedrooms, upon arriving with 14 people, we learned we only had access to (6) bedrooms. The pool was dirty, the owner did remedy this by bringing in the cleaning company the next day. The home is nearly 15k square feet with only one television in the living room. The home is beautiful, it just wasn't maintained well nor was it set-up properly for short-term rental purposes. I later learned that short-term rentals aren't even permitted in the town of Atherton per town zoning laws. "

"The room had a strong smell of chemical cleaning agents when we arrived, half our group left and paid for a different hotel. The linens on the bed had stains and we had to wash them - note the stains were gone after the wash. The location of this unit is on a very busy road and the sounds are the same whether the windows were closed or open. Absolutely dreadful furnishings, linens - nothing about this place is luxury. Only stay here if you are OK with a freeway side motel 6. Stay away from these units and units like by Bluebird. Absolute rubbish accommodation. Thanks"

"Enough towels for each person to have more than 1. Hand towels, washcloths. Heat in the community area's like the living room and kitchen. Window coverings that block the lights from the backyard or from next door. The first bedroom on the left has a mattress that is very uncomfortable. The home was clean however all the furniture has stains on it. there was a broken chair in the backyard which was dangerous(we reported this). The host was pleasant and quick to respond once our stay began. The name of the listing is deceiving it says Stanford not EPA. In the description it says Palo Alto not EPA until you get the final. there is a large difference between these 3 cities."

"The place was clean and check-in process smooth. The beds and showers are excellent. There are some restaurants and markets within walking distance. It was very suitable for our needs. I would have given it a 5-star rating if the downstairs master bedroom’s vertical blinds aren’t missing some parts and the wooden boards on the stairs aren’t loose. More towels would have been nice, too."
