  • Welcome to Appalachian View!

    Appalachian View is a 3BR/2BA home with sweeping, long-range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This home is 5 miles from Elk Knob State Park, with hiking trails on one of the highest peaks in the North Carolina mountains. Less than 5 miles from this home is the quaint town of Todd, which is home to the Todd General Store and RiverGirl Fishing Company, an outfitter for fishing, bicycling, tubing, and kayaking the New River. The Todd General Store offers everything from hand-crafted local art to freshly baked goods, and weekly live music on the front porch. Nine miles away is the town of Boone, with delicious restaurants, shopping, Appalachian State University, and much more. Local attractions such as Appalachian Ski Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad Amusement Park, High Gravity Adventure Zip Line and Aerial Park, and Doc's Rocks Gem Mining are all within 15 miles.

    Appalachian View is an incredibly appropriate name for this home. The covered front porch has a 180-degree panorama of the Appalachian Mountains. The private setting is peaceful and quiet, and the hot tub on the deck is the perfect place to enjoy an expansive night sky full of stars.

    The views continue in every room of this charming mountain home. The main living area is an open floor plan with rustic cabin décor. There is ample, comfy seating around a large flat-screen television in the living area. The cozy kitchen and dining space is a wonderful spot for a family gathering. The vaulted tongue and groove ceiling in the kitchen with high windows brings in lots of natural light.

    Warm wood accents continue throughout this cozy cabin. The King Master Bedroom is located on the main level and has a shared bathroom with a shower. Upstairs there are two additional bedrooms. Each of these bedrooms has a queen bed and beautiful vaulted tongue and groove ceilings. They share a bathroom with a combination shower and tub.

    This home can sleep up to 6 guests, and dogs are allowed. Wireless internet is available, along with a Roku player. There is a DVD player as well. Relaxation awaits you at this peaceful, mountain getaway.

Cozy cabin with hot tub with views

Clean and cozy cabin. The hot tub outside was sparkling clean and had gorgeous views. Located at the end of a quiet road so very peaceful and safe for dogs.

Great cabin, but the kitchen could use a deep clean. The fridge was super clean but the stove and kitchen drawers and cabinets need updating and cleaning.

Exactly what we were looking for

The views from the front porch were beautiful and everything we needed was available. The area was peaceful and quite which made it easy to relax and rest. The cabin was extremely clean with no issues. We met the two ladies that cleaned as we were leaving they are valuable asset to your business.we will definitely return and hopefully to this same cabin.

Fall mountain trip

The house was very clean and was prepared for us nicely. Great view of the mountains and a short (16 min) drive to Boone. 3 beds but also has a comfy couch and recliner. Hot tub and fire pit made for great fun with friends and family. 10/10

Mountain getaway

Would have appreciated a notebook with info regarding wi fi etc. Did have email however no service at cabin. Need additional seating on porch and more comfortable seating on porch. Mattress could us replacing or foam topper. Overall enjoyed our stay

Over priced for services rendered.

Upon arrival, we found dirty dishes in the dishwasher with a dish washing tablet in the bottom of machine. It was my understanding that before we departed, we were to place dirty dishes (no pots and pans) in the dishwasher with tablet and start the machine (which was done before our departure). There were no instructions for TV and no check out procedures (usually found on refrigerator or coffee table) with previous rentals that we have booked. I had to contact the property manager for these instructions ( the Check-out Procedures were not sent to me when booking property was finalized). Our granddaughter & guest arrived for one night to celebrate her Birthday. After she and guest used the hottub (after sunset), they both reaked of mildew. It was too late to notify the property manager (as per instructions on hottubs). Our granddaughter & guest were leaving early the next morning. The abundant fee that we were charged to have the hottub serviced was either not performed to standards or not performed at all. That was a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT to them as well as to me (the one footing the bill). Overall, if we had to do it over again, we would book a hotel.

I rented the cabin by myself for 4 nights because I was running the New River Marathon. It is a beautiful area and the cabin was perfect and way more than enough for 1 person. The area is rugged…my Jeep definitely got workout. Only complaints stem from the hot tub…got a bad skin infection from it and had to take antibiotics for 10 days to clear it up. The hot tub is also surrounded by beautiful flowering bushes which is fine as long as you are ok with bee’s…they are pretty busy in that area. Otherwise, you won’t be disappointed.

Appalachian View

Gorgeous view, quiet spot to get away, roads are decent to get there - driveway is flat which is nice. The property was surface clean and tidy, it could use a deep clean and refresh of curtains, bed covers, window cleaning, etc. Wi-fi was unreliable, but we were able to work around it when needed and we had noticed that in earlier reviews. It was comfortable for 4 adults and 1 child, I think it would be a bit crammed with more people. We enjoyed our stay, had a couple of issues which are being addressed with CCR, they were very responsive and that was appreciated. Overall a nice getaway...with some improvement it would be even better. I did miss the fact that it didn't have a fireplace which would have been nice.

Beautiful Views from this Cozy Cabin!

This cute and cozy cabin has amazing mountain views! The large porch, hot tub, grill, and fireplace were nice to have! Only 15 minutes from Boone and within a 50 minute drive for all other tourist destinations. Plenty of space for 4 of us. I would recommend this place to anyone! CONS: Hot tub had an odor, house needs a deep clean (under beds, blinds, doors, stove, etc. have not been cleaned in a long time), WIFI was difficult to connect to (could not get my laptop to connect), no cable TV

Gorgeous view of the mountains & fall colors! House very doable & well equipped, and everything was in working order, but some minor upkeep needs to be done....throw rugs are torn, rocker on deck torn, the shelves in refrigerator door can't be used...just needs a bit of sprucing up!

Great cabin with a fantastic view. Absolutely loved the hot tub. Cabin was in great condition and very clean when we arrived. We had some snow while there but had no issues getting to the cabin. The only negative is the internet, the wifi is very slow and drops out occasionally.

Review of Appalachian View

Very disappointed in this cabin. As we entered the security alarm was beeping. We shut off but alarm went off again at 4am Tuesday and Wednesday. On Wednesday then alarmed the security company who called and asked if we needed the fire department. We notified rental company who sent maintenance man, but unable to fix. Alarm went off again Thursday morning. We had no cell service on our phones. Unable to connect to wi-fi. The tv in living room came on as Netflix with no cable channels available. Upstairs tv only connected to Roku. Ants in kitchen and upstairs bathroom. The recliner chair in living room was broke. No handle on side of chair. Very dangerous gravel road driving to house. We had booked the cabin Monday through Thursday and one couple left day early. Would not recommend this cabin to anyone.

Simple check-in process,

Simple check-in process, great view from the front porch, and extremely convenient location (quick drive to Boone, Elk Knob State Park, etc.). This house has no air conditioning.....luckily the weather was nice enough to leave all of the windows open, but it could be an issue during the summer and on a humid day. The Air Conditioning in the home has been repaired and is up and running great! Thank you for your review. - Management
