Former smallholdings on the slopes of Mynydd Rhiw The infertile land on the lower slopes of Mynydd Rhiw were enclosed and divided into smallholdings in the first half of the 19thC. The tiny fields of this zone contrast with the much larger fields of what in Welsh is called "llawr gwlad" (lit.=floor of the country i.e the lowland areas). These smallholding fields are now used for family pets - donkeys, goats and ponies.

The path from Llandygwnning Church to the haunted Gelliwig manor house The path crosses over the Afon Soch by means of new footbridge and follows the hedge up to the drive of Gelliwig. Gelliwig manor lies within the grove of trees. In fact its name means "a grove of trees".

Stayed while walking the N Wales Saints Way. Staff were kind and helpful. Room was small but clean, quiet and comfortable and an additional heater and a fan were available. Breakfast was good, with a variety of options. Evening meal (the salmon) was excellent!
