Leave your worries behind as you relax on this quiet, secluded beach, which has golden sands and clear blue waters.
Cala Melchor is a relatively secluded beach on the scenic Costa de la Luz. This little cove is rarely overwhelmed with people, despite its compact size. Come here for a day that is likely to be tranquil and relaxing, as you enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Descend the stairs from the lovely red-hued cliffs behind the beach in order to reach the sand. Make sure you bring a picnic with you when you come, so you can enjoy a full day here. The beach is rugged and natural, and so doesn’t have many facilities. The nearby facilities are also fairly limited, although you will find some restaurants within a few minutes’ walk if you make your way west.
Like many of the beaches along the Costa de la Luz, Cala Melchor is a favorite spot with nudists. This is good news if you like to go nude at the beach too, but if not, be prepared for the possibility that some of the other visitors might.
Walk a few minutes west to reach Cala del Aceite, a larger beach that may tend to have a more lively vibe. Continue further to the west still and you will reach the Faro de Cabo Roche, or the Roche Lighthouse. This peaceful and scenic spot makes for great photos, especially at sunset. It is also simply a great place to enjoy some quiet, as it is rarely busy.
To the southeast of Cala Melchor you will find more beautiful stretches of sand, as well as the pretty town of Conil de la Frontera. Drive for just over 15 minutes to reach this historic town, known for its bright white houses and quaint winding lanes.
Use Conil de la Frontera as your base for visiting Cala Melchor, or stay in the Camping Cala Del Aceite campsite. The campsite is located just 10 minutes’ walk from the beach. It is also well placed for exploring the scenic Sendero de Roche hiking area, to the west.
