Lovely characterful local hotel

Very nice local hotel with charming staff, excellent bar service, outstanding cocktails, very good set menu dinner, great rooms, and. Lovely breakfast and all reasonably priced.

Great large bedroom with retreat, property location and hosts. We felt very comfortable during our stay. Enjoyed the daily breakfast, drinks and charcuterie during the afternoon. We visited the nearby waterfalls and hiking during the day.

Lion D’or is a very VERY charming hotel in a great location across the street from the thermal spas and extremely close to everything in Cauterets. Toma, his aunt and mother run a lovely gem of a hotel and our stay there was perfect!

Highly Recommended

My wife had injured her leg skiing and the hotel very kindly and efficiently allowed us early check-in. The staff were warm, friendly and courteous and made us feel cared for. We had a lovely traditional dinner in the restaurant which we very much enjoyed. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and we would definitely return.

Perfect stay

This was an excellent place to stay. I happened to become sick just before we arrived, so spent all my time in the room and was very comfortable the entire time. It helped that I had a view of the mountains from the bed. Clean, comfortable, spacious. Tea kettle. It was everything I needed. The breakfast, which I could finally eat on the last day, was superb -- local foods, home-baked breakfast cakes, good coffee and tea.

Fabulous stay in a historic, well maintained, immaculate property. The building mixes original antiques with modern plumbing/amenities. Really spacious. I can’t say enough good things about this property. The owner/host speaks English and was so helpful as we sat at their beautiful bar with champagne. If in Cauterets this is the place to stay.
Room is large with coffee, refrigerator auto magic shades for windows. Very quiet

Quaint hotel

This is a quaint hotel close to a lot of restaurants and shops. We were there in June, so it was off season. Lots of places were closed but the hotel itself was great!

What a beautiful hotel. The Lady at the front desk, (I assume she was the owner ) was fabulous.cShe prepared an amazing meal for dinner and also hosted a fabulous breakfast the next morning. The room had everything you would need.

Combing traditional hospitality with modern comfor

Our second stay here. Small but well appointed room with excellent shower. Smeg fridge and kettle plus capsule coffee machine. Hospitable host and traditional French cooking at dinner. Great location in heart of the town and close to cable car.

We stayed in this lovely establishment for three nights. The staff were super friendly and helpful which was an added delight. We had the breakfast each day which was delicious. My husband was a big fan of the fresh orange juice machine. A great start to our day. We enjoyed one. evening meal which changes daily. It was generous and delicious.Thank you to All the staff for making our stay such a wonderful experience.

Un très agréable séjour

Notre séjour s'est superbement déroulé, hôtel familial très accueillant, chambre très agréable avec sanitaire d'une grande propreté, petit déjeuner et repas très convenable avec produits faits " maison " excellents et copieux, petit patio attirant avec ses petites tortues trop rigolotes et félicitations pour vous occuper si bien de ces petits animaux.

A lovely quaint hotel in the middle of Cauterets, just a few minutes walk from a variety of eateries. The hotel has lots of traditional character, but has also been updated to provide modern in-room services such as coffee pod machines, refrigerators and good, powerful showers. The only downside is the lack of dedicated parking, but that applies equally to almost all hotels in the centre of Cauterets. There is however ample free parking a short walk from the hotel, to which you can move your car after dropping your luggage at the hotel door.
