We enjoyed our stay while visiting Columbus Junction. The hotel is a bit dated, as can be expected in such a small town. But the rooms were very clean and comfortable and the staff was very kind and thoughtful. We would definitely stay again.

Eastward travels
It only owned the hotel for a month, he had done a lot of positive changes but there is an off a lot more to go. I believe the hotel had been neglected for quite some time. The carpet was new in the paint and the rooms were new, but the one ply toilet paper and the one bulb above the mirror in the bathroom was a bit disappointing. It was a nice enough place to spend the night but I wouldn’t have wanted to spend more than one night there, The bed wasn’t very comfortable, silver lining, you got exfoliated with your washcloth and towel.

Clean room
Room was clean showed signs of age. Bed was comfortable but needed more pillows. Furniture was bit outdated.

When i got there to check in they had lost my reservation and even with the confirmation number they were unwilling/unable to do anything for me. I had to find and book another room. I wasn't sure if I was going to find another hotel that was available that wasn't going to be $200 to $300 a night.

The new owner is really trying to upgrade the property. They took possession of the property in the last half of 2019. The previous bad reviews are not true of the current condition. It is clean, quiet, and being well maintained by the new owners. Windows are new, paint is new, and it is not in bad shape. No it is not a Hampton or a Hilton. It is a good place to stay if you need a room in the area. If I return to the area I would stay there again.

I believe that we spoke over the phone and we agreed that you will get one night free at Columbus Motel. I am sorry on behalf of old owners but NOW its under NEW MANAGEMENT since June 2019.

Columbus Motel in Columbus Junction Iowa is under NEW MANAGEMENT since June 2019 and it is under renovation BUT still OPEN for BUSINESS.

Our first room stunk of marijuana and when we went to the front desk they told us that they told the night staff not to do that. No real concern at all. They gave us a new room that was old needs a lot of updates. The ONLY reason we stayed is because it was the only hotel in town!!!

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The only hotel in town but we enjoyed our stay. They were VERY accommodating and always had a smile. There was no coffee pot in the room but she brought us one!

Bates Motel?
This place was a complete dive for the amount paid - and honestly, I would have walked out had it not been for the no cancellation policy attached to the room. It looked like no one had taken care of the outside - ever. The 2 people that helped me at the front desk were pleasant, but the room was just a room - the mirror at the sink was made for a 6 foot person, the bathroom was barely big enough to turn around in, and the carpets were stained and tattered. The shower head was great, but the water was backed up in the tub when you showered, and there wasn't even a clock in the room. The Wi-Fi was sketchy at best. The bed had 3 SMALL pillows on a king size bed, and was horrible for sleeping on. I did not feel safe, as the back door was left open all night, never latched, or needing a key to gain entry. All of the utility areas were left open to the public view, and there were rooms that were in a state of construction that were not blocked off, or closed up. Would highly not recommend this to anyone, especially if there are children staying with you!

I didn't like the hotel due to the fact that it did not have a place to hang up my clothes the shower on one end was slick when it was wet. it didn't have any drinking glasses.
