About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Lynx Loft (Snowcat Cabins at Glacier National Park)

Lynx Loft is a walk-up, canopy-level cabin located minutes from the western entrance of Glacier National Park.

A rustic, cabin-style space capable of housing up to 6 guests between 2 bedrooms. The first bedroom features a king bed, and the second bedroom has a queen bed plus two twin-sized beds. You’ll also find 2 bathrooms, a washer and dryer, full kitchen with dining bar and table, living room, and canopy-level deck (equipped with a gas grill, seating area, and mountain views). The property sits atop a garage (not intended for guest use).

Guests have full access to the house, driveway, and outdoor space. Enjoy!

Give us a holler any time with questions about trip planning, area recommendations, or anything you may need during your stay. Beyond that, we give you the space to enjoy your cabin and the surrounding nature in peace.

8 miles from Glacier National Park (Apgar / West Glacier gates) and close to the amenities of the towns of Coram, Hungry Horse, West Glacier, and Columbia Falls, this is the perfect location for exploring Glacier and the surrounding areas.

*15 minutes to the entrance of Glacier National Park
*12 minutes to the Hungry Horse Dam
*1 hour to Polebridge
*15 minutes to downtown Columbia Falls, MT
*28 minutes to downtown Whitefish, MT
*37 minutes to Kalispell, MT
*40 minutes to Big Fork, MT

Getting around: We find that guests are best able to explore Glacier and the surrounding areas by vehicle. Several of our guests also enjoy biking around the area and neighborhood (pro tip: Going-to-the-Sun Road opens exclusively to bikers in the springtime as they’re clearing snow, so spring is a great time to bring or rent a bike!).

Winter driving: Our region is subject to heavy snowfall and icy conditions throughout the winter (and occasionally in the fall and spring), making for unpredictable driving conditions. If you’re planning to visit during the winter, consider snow tires, snow chains, and any other supplies you may want for winter conditions.

Parking: Guests can fit 1 regular-sized car beneath the deck overhang. There’s room for a compact car beneath the overhang on the other side of the garage. Alternatively, guests can fit their second car along the fence on the opposite side of the driveway from the Loft. We don’t allow boat or RV parking in the driveway due to its small, tight size and grade.

Before you book, read on to learn about a couple of property quirks to make sure we’re the right fit for your outdoor adventure:

While we made your cabin as comfortable as possible, we are still located in a remote area and encourage our guests to prepare for some rustic experiences. That can mean hot summers, drafty winters, or the occasional four-to-eight-legged friend around the property or grounds. We like to think of ourselves as an extension of the Greater Glacier Ecosystem, so it’s all part of the fun!

In true Montana fashion, a very active train runs near the property; it's required to engage its horn when crossing the street and can be disruptive, especially to light sleepers. You'll find a white noise machine, fan, and earplugs in the unit to help with the sound.

While we do offer WiFi, the speed of our Internet *may* take twenty years off your life (although we promise the restorative power of nature will put those years right back on). While we can assure you we’ve spent countless hours with every single ISP in the area and offer up the best we possibly can, the Internet may intermittently go out or run slowly.

We have three other cabins on the same property, each with plenty of private space. The layout feels suburban-rural.

For the safety of our guests, we maintain an outdoor security camera covering the entrance to the cabin. We like to keep an eye on bear activity on trash days, hazardous elements, including fires and snow, and other precautionary measures to make sure that you have a safe and smooth stay.

Pets: Our pet fee is $20 per dog per night. We can accommodate a maximum of two dogs (and dogs only at this time), but get in touch with us if you have a special circumstance. Let us know if you plan to bring your furry friend(s) along, and we’ll share our full policy.

Winters here are beautiful, but they can be intense. Snow shedding from the roof and icy/snowy walkways can be dangerous and difficult to pass, particularly for people with ambulatory issues. We’re also subject to mountain snowstorms that can occur early in fall and well into the spring. Heavy, wet snow and regular freeze-thaw patterns intermittently result in extremely icy driveways and walkways here and around town--we recommend Yaktrax and 4x4 vehicles in winter.

While Glacier National Park is open year-round, several roads close during winter (typically beginning in the fall and ending in late spring or early summer). Visit the NPS website for more information on off-season services and closures.

Fire season typically falls between summer and early fall in the area, so air quality may be unhealthy during this time, particularly among sensitive groups.

Our cabin and the public lands surrounding it are located on or near the ancestral homelands of the Amskapi Piikani (the Blackfeet Nation of Montana), the Niitsítapi (the Blackfoot Confederacy), the Séliš (Salish), Ql̓ispé (Pend d’Oreille or Kalispel), and Ktunaxa (Kootenai) tribes. Please travel responsibly and respectfully when visiting tribal lands and inform yourself of any rules, regulations, and permits before visiting.

We hope you enjoy this neck of the woods as much as we do. Welcome to the greater Glacier region!

Vacation

Great location to Glacier. We were very comfortable, plenty of room and clean. Would stay there again. There is a train track next to the location. We were so busy during the day, the train really didnt bother us.

Glacier Park Vacation Spot

Easy access property. Stairs were kind of steep & exposed for our old dogs but they got used to them. Nice & comfortable cabin with all you need for eating, sleeping, bathing. Close to railroad tracks but it was part of the unique experience.

Great property, a bit noisy, but would happily stay again.

Nice loft cabin as described in the listing /photos. Hosts were great, check in and out was very easy. Only downsides were it's quite close to train lines with LOUD horns throughout the night, but we were warned about that before check in, and earplugs & the supplied noise machines blocked most of that. Also the stairs to the apartment didn't have hand rails for the lower half, so my older mother needed some assistance, but anyone without mobility issues should be fine.

This VRBO was roomy, clean and very comfortable. Kyle and Krissy were always available for any questions. Would return on next visit. Only suggestions which I am sure you have heard would be a 11 o’clock check out instead of 10.

Loved the Loft Cabin

I really enjoyed my stay at the Loft Cabin. The cabin is so quaint. Rustic but modern. The location was very convenient to GNP as well as Whitefish and Hungry Horse. Kyle and Krissy were very responsive to any questions I had and very helpful. If you plan on doing any hiking in the area, no need to rent or buy bear spray because there is plenty in the cabin for you to borrow. The bed in the master bedroom was amazingly comfortable right down to the pillows. The kitchen was also fully stocked with everything you need. I would defintely stay here again and highly recommend.

Great place to stay near Glacier

This loft is lovely and has all of the conveniences that you would need. It was clean and comfortable. A short and easy drive to Glacier. The neighborhood isn't fancy but it was quiet, minus that train that people mention, but that didn't bother us at all. Parking is a little tight and if you have lots of luggage, be prepared to carry it up stairs. Communication with the hosts was clear and check in/out was simple. We would recommend!

Comfortable

We were very pleased with our stay. It was a nice distance from West Glacier. It was clean and comfortable. Many little necessities available to use which made it more accommodating. The train didn’t seem to bother us at all. The only complaint I would have is the hot water heater couldn’t sustain our four showers consecutively but we learned to simply space them out and it worked much better. Thank you for a great, memorable stay. We sure enjoyed our time there!

Thumbs up

The unit was very nicely appointed. We had no issues with the unit although there were a few things that needed Maintenace. This in no way had any effect on our stay. The owner was notified upon leaving. This VRBO is located near a busy railroad track and can. The unit came with earplugs. This VRBO was nicely stocked, and the stay was very comfortable once we got use to the trains

Comfortable stay

Overall the house was nice and comfortable. The cabins on the property are much closer together than it looked like in the photos, as well as set right in the middle of a neighborhood. Just wasn’t what we were expecting. The loft is atop the garage with the storage for the cabins on the property so when people were going in and out during the day, that was pretty noisy from inside the loft. There is a lot of wood in this house, which is beautiful, but there are some rough spots on the ground that caused slivers which wasn’t ideal with a 9 month old crawling around. Along with the dining table- I leaned up against it and was covered in wood slivers. But overall it was a comfortable stay. The house was very clean and cute.

Very clean and comfy

I really enjoyed the cleanliness of the place, and it was plenty of space for us and our 3 kids (they got to stay in the same room which was awesome); its location is perfect -- close to hungry horse and grocery store and close to glacier park entrance -- so it was very convenient to make a couple trips to the grocery store. The hosts were super nice and very quick to answer questions and attempt to resolve concerns. Some unfortunate things had happened (someone stole their outdoor grill, replacing it with a broken rusty one, so we couldn't bbq dinner that we brought with us- and the tv was completely broken) so hopefully those will get resolved for the next people staying there. Otherwise it was very nice and comfy and we really really appreciated the hosts quick responses and attempts to make things right. The train in the background wasn't a bother at all, in fact very nostalgic--loved looking out the window to see it passing through the trees!

FANTASTIC!

First, let me say that Kyle and Krissy are absolutely the most amazing people! They were so responsive and so accommodating to us during our stay. We actually arrived one day late because of a flight delay and Kyle and Krissy were so understanding. When we arrived at the cabin, we were blown away by the beauty of the cabin and its location. The decor and the views are breathtaking. Being able to see the mountains from the couch was amazing. We absolutely loved that the trains moved through during our stay. We never heard them at all during the night while we were sleeping. When we arrived we hoping to have snow for our wedding day and boy Montana didn't disappoint us! Lol. We woke up on our wedding day to about 2.5 feet of fresh powder and a beautiful snow storm. It was gorgeous. Being from Alabama, we don't get to experience much snow. And during March we are usually transitioning to Spring with hot temps. It was absolutely amazing to be able to be in snow and temps that ranged anywhere from 17 to 35 degrees the entire time. Apparently Montana seemingly shuts most things down during the winter and most of the locals hunker down until the spring and summer. We were able to experience a good bit of Montana even though some businesses/restaurants/shops weren't open. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that we will definitely do our best to replicate again soon! Thank you Kyle and Krissy for being so gracious and great! And thank you for the precious wedding gift! TEN STARS!

We enjoyed our stay at the Lynx Lodge! The view of the mountains from the front deck were beautiful. We loved how close this place was to Glacier National Park West entrance, and a reasonable drive to Kalispell. We saw 7 Elk at the national park and rode a roller coaster in Lakside! The cabin was beautiful inside and very clean. We would recommend staying here!

Everything was as stated. Very nice accommodations and a lot of thought was put into making it as good as it could be.
