"We stayed here for one night with friends and overall had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel itself is lovely, the rooms were comfortable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout. The facilities were also excellent. Unfortunately, our experience at dinner let things down slightly. One of the meals (a double smash burger) was completely inedible and was returned, yet it still appeared on the final bill and was charged in full. This was raised at the time and should have been removed. We were also told during a conversation about tipping that staff do not receive tips and that there is no point in leaving one. If this is the case, it’s quite disappointing and not something guests would expect. Overall, a nice hotel and an enjoyable stay, but these issues did take away from what would otherwise have been a great experience."

After spending our trip touring so many historic sites, actually getting to stay in a real castle was something special—it truly brought everything to life for us.The property was spacious and comfortable, easily accommodating all of us, and it had such a unique charm you just can’t replicate anywhere else. "I had stayed at the Clayton in Sligo a few times before (last time was in March of last year) and it maintains high standards in every aspect. I had dinner at the Bistro Bar and, besides the good food, the young waiter and waitress that were serving were so professional, attentive and caring. The food was also served quickly. Breakfast remains excellent with huge variety of choices. The hotel building is majestic and beautiful with plenty of parking and the rooms are bigger than the average hotel room. As I was working in the hospital, the Clayton's location is perfect, so this hotel ticked all boxes for me."
