We (2 adults 2 dogs) loved our stay. The house has a great layout and uses the space well. We had everything we needed and host offered some great suggestions for area hiking and activities.
Exactly as described: beautiful, large, comfortable, and well appointed cabin, with kayaks and raft for guest use.
We loved fishing the river during the day and having campfires at night.
Owner was incredibly helpful during our entire stay.
Highly recommend this property!
Two parents and our four children and a family dog booked Spring Break in March. We had a great time experiencing the out doors from hiking to stand up paddle boarding on Lake Moomaw to kayaking down the Jackson River to reading on hammocks by the river and camp fires at night. Our host left excellent information on the area and was easy to contact.
This property is amazing!! The property offers floaty fun days by the creek. Our dogs enjoyed the property with easy water access. The cabin is beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you need for a stay. I highly recommend the property and the owners were very resourceful about the area and floating spots.
This was our 2nd stay at the Jackson River house. It is the best place to forget the 95° heat.
The grandkids loved the kayaks and the swings. Papa and Nana liked sitting in chairs with our feet in the river.
We went to Lake Moomaw-very nice and quiet.
We will be back!!
This house is small but HUGE! All the additional living spaces are amazing. The canoes were great! The river was so beautiful. The owners were very helpful and friendly. 0 of 10 all the way. 💗
Beautiful rustic location on a mountain river. Everything provided for rafting, kayaking, or fishing—or just relaxing and enjoying the views. Perfect location for motorcycle riding the “Back Roads Discovery Route” with winding country roads and challenging Forest Service trails. Easy parking for our trailers. Fire pit to finish off the evenings with a campfire by the river. Great hosts with easy self check in.
Place was perfect for our needs. Convenient to multiple places for trout fishing. Enjoyed the river access from the yard. Owner was really responsive and helpful!!! And we have never broken anything on any stays in the past. All in all I would recommend. Bring two vehicles so you can uses the utilize the available boats. Only thing that disappointed us was having to pay for damage insurance and putting a damage deposit. Owner tried to change but wasn't able to remove. Damage deposit was reimbursed quickly.
Two families enjoyed this lovely home on the river. With 4 teenagers and 4 adults, we enjoyed some quality, family and friend time along with relaxing moments. Extensive river-front property lent itself to unlimited fishing, a BB gun shooting range, an exciting teenage egg hunt, and moments by a campfire despite the rainy forecast. My husband and son went out and bought waiters to thoroughly enjoy river fishing. Sadly, it was too cold to enjoy the various watercraft that the property had. The home itself had a lovely sunroom and screened in porch, where you could find any one at anytime. We explored the area and my friend and I completed several hikes. The host was very helpful with suggestions prior to arrival and very prompt with responses during our trip.
My husband, our two dogs, and I recently had an unforgettable stay at this charming home on the water. The setting was everything we’d hoped for—tranquil, beautiful, and incredibly relaxing. Our boys loved having the freedom to run the extensive property, and watching them splash around in the water was a joy! My husband, an avid fisherman, was in his element, while I soaked in the peace and serenity of the surroundings. Tree branches wrestling in the wind, the sound of the rushing water, watching the fall leaves color the landscape.
The location felt like home, with easy access to provisions and everything we needed nearby, but far enough away to not see other people unless you want to.
The natural beauty of the camp truly sets it apart, making it a hidden gem for anyone looking to unwind. We felt like family from the moment we arrived, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!
We would give it 10 stars if we could. sound?
Our group consists of 3 couples who have been friends for 37 years. We met up at this comfy cottage for a long weekend together. The cottage itself is very comfortable, clean, cute, and quiet. We shared a lot of time sitting together around the big kitchen table eating and playing games. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare the meals we brought. The beds were good, and everyone had enough space. The cottage is located a good distance from the road and looks out directly onto the river. We enjoyed exploring the property and having a bonfire by the river. One of our group even took a polar plunge in the river!
We ventured away from the cottage to check out Island Ford Cave, Humpback Bridge, Swinging Bridge, Warm Spring Pools, Homestead Resort, some establishments in Covington, and the great walking trail that runs along the Jefferson River. The cottage is in a somewhat remote location, but is very close to lots of fun things to do. We had a great time!
Mike, the owner, is very helpful with suggestions of things to do in the area, and he responds to text messages quickly.
I highly recommend this property!
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. Great location along the river where we could trout fish. The ammendities were great. Everyone was impressed we plan to use it again next year 18 to 21 June 2026.
This was an amazing cottage. My boys, our pups, and I enjoyed every minute of our stay. It was stocked with everything we needed for both fun and relaxation. We loved the bench swings, hammock, and the reading barn for relaxation, and there were plenty of kayaks and canoes to choose from for fun. The host was very helpful and available when/if needed. There was some bad weather on our first night, and he even called to check on us the next morning. We will definitely be back!
We enjoyed the river front, fishing, boating and making smores. The host provided everything we needed. Wished the middle bedroom was a bit larger but the sofa was comfortable, master bedroom was spacious, and the loft was perfect for the kids.
We had come to the area for a summer camp reunion. Property was great. House very well equipped. Very clean and well maintained. Great access to the Jackson River! Will definitely book again.
