"We loved that this is an independent hotel and small business. The owner is a local and cares about Montclair. The interior is decorated brilliantly and has a clever motif. For example, the rooms don't have numbers, they have names. Inside each room you will find photos of famous people with that name. It's a fun game to guess who each of these people are and some of them may surprise you. Breakfast was included and some of the offerings came from local businesses. Parking was ample, which is a big deal in this area of Montclair. The hotel is also ideally placed within walking distance from many of the major attractions in town; it's nice to park the car in one, safe, location and be able to get to many of the places that makes this town special. Check-in and check-out is easy. We also loved the candy bar!"

"I had a very disappointing experience at The MC Hotel, Autograph Collection. I booked a two-night stay but was forced to leave after just one night due to the conditions of my room. I was placed on what appeared to be a fully operational amenity floor, and it was extremely loud—so much so that I was unable to sleep at all. To make matters worse, I was assigned a handicap-accessible room without prior notice, which felt like an oversight given availability should have allowed for a better fit. When I checked out early, the front desk associate assured me that I would only be charged for one night and advised me to follow up with Hotels.com. Unfortunately, that turned into a frustrating cycle of back-and-forth, with each party redirecting me to the other. Eventually, Hotels.com went above and beyond to advocate on my behalf—but the hotel ultimately denied any adjustment. What’s most disappointing is the lack of accountability and customer care. After a 7-hour airport delay, we arrived exhausted, even shared our late-night food with the concierge, and still received a subpar experience in return. Being charged nearly $600 for a stay where I couldn’t even sleep—and had to leave early—is incredibly frustrating. Between the noise, the room placement, and the poor handling of a simple billing issue, this experience fell far below expectations. I would not return, nor would I recommend this property based on how this situation was handled."

"This big house offered plenty of space for my travel team of competitive nerf players to sleep, dine and chill out before and after our big event! It was easy to find and well-located near dining and shopping options. The kitchen is great for cooking, with everything you need, and then some! The bathrooms are outstanding--clean and modern (and enough for everyone). The room arrangements enabled us to all be comfortable. Some of the doors don't fully close because of the age of the floors and doors. It would be nice to have that taken care of, but it's an older home with modern updates. It's in a great neighborhood, and we enjoyed walking around the block and to a nearby park as well. The driveway is a bit tricky to back out of. It may be worth paying for the town's on-street parking pass if you're not confident backing your vehicle. I'd love to have a dining table large enough to accommodate most of the people who can sleep there--seating for 4 isn't ideal, though there's also a breakfast bar in the kitchen. I was bummed that the chilly weather meant we couldn't enjoy the beautiful deck at the back! We did appreciate the basement workout space though. This is a great property for a large group, and if we have another event in the area, we're likely to come back! Thanks to the hosts for answering my questions and helping us have a great stay!"
