"Rooms were very nice and clean. We checked in and the lady was super nice. She took time to find my Hilton Honors number but was u successful. Breakfast was ok. Reg scrambled eggs would have been nice. Not everyone likes garden omelets. Boiled eggs should have been peeled prior to bringing out. You couldn’t even peel them. Threw them away. Parking was plenty"

Drury Inn & Suites West Des Moines

"We stayed here twice for youth baseball tournaments and overall had a good experience, with a few frustrations worth noting. The location is great, with plenty to do nearby and several solid food options within a short walk. On the plus side, the food setup worked well for our team families. We were able to make nachos in the evenings with the provided fixings, and the food was generally decent. The free drinks were a nice perk after long days at the fields. The parking lot was usually full, but there was sufficient overflow parking in the back so we could always find a space. The rooms were quiet and clean, which is important when you have kids trying to sleep between games. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The pool was very popular and often crowded, but the kids enjoyed having it as an option. The biggest drawback was the elevator situation. On both of our stays, one of the two elevators was out of service. That meant a lot of waiting or climbing seven flights of stairs with baseball gear, which got old fast and would be a serious issue for anyone with mobility concerns. Fresh towels also tended to arrive late in the evening, which was a minor annoyance but worth mentioning. The surrounding area is a highlight: the donut shop, breakfast place, and Mexican restaurant nearby were all excellent, and having Crumbl Cookies close by was a fun bonus for the kids."

"Most hotel clerks greet you when you get to the counter and confirm the rate of the room, tell you that they will take a deposit per night. This man said none of that. He said hello and next words out his mouth were you can swipe your card when you’re ready. The rooms were awful. Dated and there was a noticeable smell when you enter the room. The carpet was nasty and I didn’t even want to stay but it was only for one night. Bright spots- valet, both the evening and morning guys and our server in the restaurant/bar area that evening was very nice. I stayed there because it was the Embassy Suites, but never again."
