We stayed one night at Mt Sturgeon one-bedroom cottage, it's a beautiful property with a great view of Mt Sturgeon. Comfortable bed, but the pillow was too firm for me.

This Royal Mail truly Delivers.
Situated in the shadow of Mt. Sturgeon The Royal Mail Hotel offers a choice of accommodation to suit all type of visitors. On a recent trip I stayed in the One Bedroom Apartment and it was more like a home. An abundance of space over two levels and simply yet adequately furnished to make it feel like home away from home. The Garden Cottages are more compact but still very, very roomy. Duikelt is small but there are a few options for food, from breakfast to dinner. If you don't want to leave the Royal Mail grounds then I highly recommend the onsite casual dining restaurant, the Parker St Project. Don't let 'causal dining' fool you - the menu is intriguing, and the food excellent. Wiht an extensive drinks list you really are spoilt for choice.

Fantastic two day stay at the royal Mail, couldn't fault anything, all staff warm, helpful and passionate about their job. Food inventive utilising local produce, all delicious especially the duck. An extremely relaxing two day stay .

Cosy cottage stunning backdrop
Warm, cosy cottage with open fireplace, wonderful bed and great breakfast hamper. Had everything we needed. Highly recommended.

Staff were very welcoming. The room was beautiful and we enjoyed the view of the Grampians. We dined in the restaurant and staff were great and the food delicious. We would happily return for another stay.

Lovely but pricey
The hotel specifically was very nice but feel wasnt deserving of a $245 p/n stay. Maybe $200...but that was just our thoughts. Had a meal across the road and it was og high quality.

wonderful surprise in grampian country
I was looked after very well by all the staff and the food was to die for, and , all of this in a small village in country Victoria, miles from Melbourne and Adelaide. If one person can create this dream imagine what could be done with small country towns if people of similar circumstances did likewise. It creates employment, encourages tourism and prevents these towns from becoming ghost towns, I will be back , with my wife and a few friends , to enjoy the experience all over again. Miguel Zalapa.

Everything was excellent except not having any ice for our room and the staff asked us to go across the street and ask the cafe if they had ice. The cafe didn't have ice either. The staff and wait staff were fantastic especially Myriam and Kate.

Fantastic hotel amazing scenery
Have stayed at Royal Mail periodically over the past 18 years. Love the scenic outlook. Rooms comfortable but a bit tied. Dining at Parkers an amazing experience. Staff excellent. Can't wait to return.

Well Worth It
The hotel was pleasant; the purpose of the stay was to dine at the hotel's restaurant. The restaurant was worth every penny, even if we did need lots of pennies. We compare the hotel's restaurant favourably against the Berowra Waters Inn on the Hawkesbury River north of Sydney. Being at the foot of the Grampians was a nice scenic addition.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, they offered a free lift from our rooms to the restaurant and back. They were very informative about the local area. An absolute delight. I had never been to the Grampians, I highly recommend them.

This hotel was recommended by a friend,and boy talk about a surprise,this was not what we were expecting in the middle of nowhere, as it turns out the atmosphere, service and cuisine was like being in any 5 star hotel in melbourne that we have stayed at,job well done to all.

Beautiful Food. Room disappointing.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food. Staff were good, room was disappointing. I didn't like being across the road, down an alley with glass doors that wobbled in the wind without a phone in the room too. Didn't feel safe and secure.

The restaurant is the main draw card for this hotel but unfortunately shut during our stay, odd given it was busy and between Christmas and New Year which i would guess to be high season. Bistro was excellent compensation, staff were friendly and well trained.

We stayed and ate here and had a brilliant experience. FYI the restaurant is amazing and the Dunkeld township with the Grampians is worth getting out of town for. This hotel has been around a while and is starting to show its age needing new carpet and a lick of paint at least. Our bathroom needs a thorough clean to remove mould, hair and accumulated dirt from the floor. But I think most hotel bathrooms need a clean and not a wipe.

Its a destination in itself
Royal Mail is a great place to stay for whatever reason or for no reason at all. The garden rooms are very spacious and comfortable with quality fittings and toiletries. The breakfast is a showcase of the local yogurt, chef prepared jams and stewed fruit, with substance bread and churned butter. Fresh Juice and Coffee come to table as requested. The Bistro meal never fails to satisfy, but the A la carte meal in Restuarant was the best meal I have ever had. The free guest activites of wildlife feeding, private garden tour and kitchen garden tour are worth planning your stay around.

Chambre spacieuse et les produits de la salle de bain étaient de bonne qualité. Petit déjeuner très bon composé de produits locaux. Déçus car les chambres 'garden view' se trouvent de l'autre côté de la route (contrairement aux autres chambres qui ont une vue dégagée vers les montagnes). La 'garden view' consiste en une vue chez le voisin. On entend les camions circuler la nuit (en tous cas dans la chambre 29). La WIFI ne fonctionne pas bien.

A destination in itself
The Hotel is a halfway point to Robe. It certainly has put Dunkeld on the map. The room is spacious and comfortable. It was nice to arrive on a cold rainy afternoon to find my heater was already on. The staff had rung the day before to see if I would like a Dinner Reservation so I asked if I could be put in quiet room as found on previous visit that Room 30 does seem to have a direct flow of traffic noise from the Western Hwy. This was addressed and found another room where there was very little noise from anything even though there was a lot of people staying. I had a wonderful meal in the new Bistro and would have thought more seriously of enjoying the Restaurant if I had known that you could have a 2 course for $75. The Breakfast in the morning in the Restaurant was very locally inspired produce and was hearty and most enjoyable. To have a walking map so you could see the wallabies and local flora and fauna was again very good, plus guest complimentary tours on offer does make it a destination in itself.

We loved having a view of Mount Sturgeon from our room. The food at the restaurant was first class and the service was excellent. Also we enjoyed doing the walk at the back of the accommodation.

Beautiful location at the tip of the Grampians
Very deluxe and caring ecperience ... we arrived late and found dinner options were limited & the bar had switched off its appliances but a very courteous ataff member 'created' a delectable salad ... full of flavour with a reccomendation of a divine Muscat that surpassed expectations ... the bird warbles and chortles next morning were a beautiful start to the day & the 'breakfast included' was gourmet,susbsantial and very courteously served ... didn't expect it to be sooooo nice
