On the sandy shores of the Black Sea, Eforie is a treat for sunbathers, with its countless deckchairs and several piers. The southern resort offers spas providing services featuring the claimed healing properties of the lake. Minerals in mud masks are said to help the skin. Swim in the large salty body of water for a change of scenery from the sea.
The commune has had several names over the years, including Carmen-Sylva, in reference to Romanian royalty. It is a 20-minute drive south of Constanta, the county seat. The resort is in southeastern Romania, in an area of many beach towns, including Costinesti and Mangalia. Arrive at Mihail Kogălniceanu International Airport and rent a car for the 28-mile (45-kilometre) drive south.
