  • El Escorial was built by King Philip II in the late 16th century to serve as both a royal palace and as the seat of the Catholic Church in Spain. In addition to the palace the complex includes a basilica, a convent, a school, a library, and a pantheon. While El Escorial is impressive from the outside, we actually found it a little austere on the inside. In many ways it felt more like a fine art museum than a typically elaborate European palace (such as Versailles). That said, there are some impressive sights, including works by El Greco, Bernini, and Giardini. The library was also quite beautiful, with richly carved wood shelves, a marble floor, and a colorful fresco ceiling by Pellegrino Tibaldi. For me, the highlight of the tour was the 180ft long (55m) Hall of Battles – a barrel-vaulted room where the walls were completely covered in frescos depicting Spain's military victories over the Moors and the French. All aspects of the battle field were portrayed (when you have 180ft, that is quite doable), and the artist employed an interesting trick whereby the more distant, smaller scenes were less saturated, and the background mountains and landscape were set in hues of blue. Overall I'd say El Escorial is worth a visit, but you probably won't need more than a couple of hours to enjoy it.

This family-owned business is a little paradise not far from Madrid and in the beautiful and historical place of Escorial. Great place for a wonderful time. The breakfast was delicious. We were honoured to see the amazing work the family has been doing with the Pura Raza Española "pure spanish breed" and some of the amazing horses.

Food shops are 20-30 min walk. Not much to do around area unless you hire a car. The accommodation location is amazingly clean and sooooo beautiful and stunning xxx

Pleasant, relaxing B&B!

Really enjoyed my weekend at this peaceful, semi-rural (but within 20 minutes walk of El Escorial train station and 40 minutes uphill to magnificent San Lorenzo de El Escorial) B&B. As in a typical B&B the rooms are simple but very well maintained and the grounds very relaxing, especially round the swimming pool area. The continental breakfast was more than ample and I found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful, even though it was full. A huge plus for me was to be able to see the beautiful purebred white horses and I certainly hope to return again in the future. Muchas Gracias!

Unica nota positiva: la vicinanza al monastero.

Purtroppo la stanza,nonostante per noi fosse chiaro che parte di essa fosse sotto un tetto a spiovente dove chi superava 1,70m sbatteva,era a prescindere troppo piccola per 2 letti singoli e una culla(che doveva essere spostata ogni volta per accedervi)e per tutti i bagagli che un neonato ha. L’assenza di sedie e tavolo dove poggiare le cose si sentiva meno di quella delle luci sui comodini,cosa che creava disagio ogni volta che servisse la luce perché bisognava accendere quella centrale. Stanza troppo calda che aggiunta al forte odore di polvere proveniente forse dalle coperte o dai copricoperta ha impedito a tutti di dormire bene nonostante la mezza finestra bassa apribile sottotetto. Una sola presa elettrica funzionante nella stanza e una inutile nel bagno per noi che dovevamo ricaricare tutto il necessario per l’alimentazione del neonato,ci ha fatto perdere tante ore,in aggiunta a quelle perse di sonno,e conseguentemente impedito di fare colazione. Alla disponibilità della proprietaria(seppur col tentativo di fare pesare la cosa)per un check-in ritardato alle 22,40 anziché alle 21 come dice il sito(e non alle 20,30 come dice la proprietaria) fa da contraltare che,nonostante avessi spiegato i problemi rilevati,la stessa ci ha concesso pochi minuti oltre l’orario di check out. Il B&B è molto isolato in periferia senza alcuna illuminazione circostante e non è facile da trovare perché nonostante su maps ci sia,la strada per arrivarci non è esatta e non ci sono indicazioni.

Esto no es ni B&B ni nada. No hay recepción y hay que esperar a que alguien aparezca. Parece más un refugio. Las fotos del Anunció no muestran lo real. Habitaciones muy pequeñas, camas de catre con colchones viejos y duros, sin veladores ni lámparas. Solo una mesa incómoda inapropiada para una habitación. Sábanas tiesas y gastadas. Baño muy pequeño. Mobiliario de muy baja calidad. De verdad una mala decisión.

Fint B&B. Fin rengøringsstandard. Værelserne er spartansk indrettet, men i fin og funktionel stand - og fine til prisen. Normal spansk morgenmad - ingen ost/yoghurt, men kage og dejlig friskpresset appelsin juice. Rolig placering i udkanten af byen - optimalt hvis man har bil, dejlig swimmingpool.

Las fotos no reflejan la realidad

El edificio no está concebido ni diseñado como un hostal o un hotel. Nuestra habitación no tenía aire acondicionado dentro de la habitación (el control era exterior desde el pasillo) y la temperatura solo regulable igual para todas las habitaciones. Las camas pequeñas y el colchón cubierto con un plástico que no traspira (con el calor imposible dormir...). El techo de la habitación inclinado y con ventanas (aberturas) a la altura del suelo (sin vista). Sensación claustrofóbica. La ducha se inundaba ya que el sumidero estaba atascado (lo comunicamos a recepción) El personal amable y el desayuno bueno pero el precio total demasiado caro para la calidad de la habitación.

Hotel tres simple mais bcp moins cher que ceux proches de madrid. Pas de tv, lit une place, petite douche. Vraiment en depannage pour une nuit. Sinon propre.

Insatisfatório

Deixei assim que consegui outro.ficando no prejuízo de 3 diárias. Me deram o que acredito ser o pior dos quartos. Uma cama em miniatura, que diziam no anúncio, tamanho Queen size. Esse hotel precisa de ajuda profissional. Não se arma couradouros em frente à recepção . Ou parar de se iludir. O desjejum Atrasada foi bom. A única coisa boa. Não recomendo.
