“Quinta de Recião has numerous properties. This review is for the one-bedroom cottage (Casa do Moinho - the Mill House) The Mill House is a beautiful property, hosted by beautiful people. The main room has kitchen, table, lounge, small TV and a fire. The separate bedroom has two single beds with an adjoining bathroom. The cottage sits right on the edge of the Rio Varosa (Varosa River) and the sound of running water is peaceful and calming. There is the option to have a home cooked meal……

“The home was lovely, spacious, comfortable, well-appointed and tastefully decorated. The views were outstanding. It was difficult to find restaurants nearby, and as the crow flies one was less than 2km away, but took nearly 30 minutes to drive. Next time (if I'm fortunate enough to rent this villa again), I would buy meats and vegetables (and wine of course) for a lovely dinner at the villa at least one night. I thought I read that the beds were all king-size, but now I don't see that……

“Casa do Monte, Marcus, Rosa and staff truly gave us the best 4 days of our lives. When planning our wedding we were looking for a place in the Douro Valley that could serve as our wedding venue for 35 people AND a place to stay for all 13 of our friends. After reading reviews of the property and how helpful the host was - we decided to book. “This is a room to remember! It is apparently new judging from the pristine condition and stylish modern amenities. The private hot tub on the patio is a welcome amenity after a long day of sightseeing and port wine tasting. The view out the windows is pastoral and inviting. Its just a short distance from the town, but its not practical to walk anywhere from here so we recommend if you have a car or are happy to use rideshares. The driveway entrance is non-descript so pics are below to help……

“Everything about this spot was wonderful! The views are spectacular, we felt like we were living in a postcard. The house was so clean and cozy. Giselle was so easy to communicate with - the driving instructions were very complete, and she checked in during our stay. There was even a bottle of port and some cookies when we arrived. 10/10!!”
