The Ibis Style Gelsenkirchen is an excellent choice for convenience, located just a 5-minute walk from Gelsenkirchen main station. The room was quite large, clean, and comfortable, complete with a working desk and wardrobe. Be aware, however, that there is no mini-fridge or tea/coffee facilities. The breakfast is standard and acceptable, though the variety is limited and was almost the same over my 4-day stay. A major plus is the staff, who were all kind and helpful. Overall, a solid stay focusing on location and comfort.

The staff was really friendly. The rooms were clean and we enjoyed it being so close to the train station and the pedestrian zone. One of the elevators was broken and we were there with a large group so that was a tiny bit unpleasant.

Nothing wrong with the property. Stayed here to see a football match in Gelsenkirchen. Very close to main train station, which is why we stayed there. As with most train stations, the surrounding area was so-so. Was in late June and weather was warm and there was no air conditioning. There was a window that opened but it was noisy outside from traffic. Again, though, not a bad place--we paid more than usual because of the football tournament but at the normal price it would be fine.

There were parking places named « only for hotel guest » but the small stop-park could not be unlocked by staff ! So why ??!!! So we had to go to the public pk near the hotel. I would rather prefer had my car in the courtyard… well, this should be done… or take off the signs ??!!! Otherwise, a second coffe machine for breakfast buffet is needed : there was a technical issue and everyone had to wait and queuing.

Very awful reception.

Worst hotel experience - ever. Have paid for stay in advance but must pay for parking via the card terminal at check-in. Afterwards, the receptionist takes my card and has to enter my card number on his PC. I immediately ask for the card back and clearly state that I do not want her to register my Visa card in their system. She hears that while she tells me that she doesn't care about my opinion and that I can just complain. No prior communication or controversy. Fine another hotel

Im großen und ganzen war alles gut. Es sind Kleinigkeiten die gefällt oder gestört haben. Z. B. hätte ich gerne am Schreibtisch einen Spiegel um sich zu schminken, weil im Badezimmer war es nicht immer möglich. Entweder war mein Mann drin oder nach den Duschen war der Spiegel beschlagen und der Abzug war zu schwach.

Da ich zwei unabhängige Tage gebucht habe. Hintereinander gab es an der Rezeption Verwirrung beim einchecken, sowohl auch am nächsten Tag beim reinigen. Um die Tür zu schließen, musste man sie kräftig heranziehen. Dadurch entstand sehr viel Lärm. Dies war aber nicht nur bei unserer Zimmertür. So, das Hotel ist sehr hellhörig. Am zweiten Tag hatten wir auf das Frühstück verzichtet, weil einfach nur zu viele Leute in den kleinen Raum waren.
