An oasis of calm in a lovely small historic city. Make sure you use the pool and garden and enjoy a glass of champagne during happy hour, outside if the sun is shining! Wonderful short stay!

Hotel du Vin overbooked the hotel which meant I didn’t have a room as promised, and paid for in advance. Really unhelpful and rude staff at reception. Resulted in me having to organising another hotel late at night.

Ich denke wir hatten ein nicht renoviertes Zimmer. Die Sicht war mit Folie verklebt. Da das Hotel voll war, war ein Zimmerwechsel nicht möglich.. alle waren sehr freundlich und der vordere Bereich schön und in gutem Zustand. Betten sehr bequem. Alles gemütlich! Lage ist prima.

The staff were helpful, Aircon was broken and there were no people availabke to fix during our stay, there was musshed food in the stair carpet which was there when we arrived and was still there when we left ! we could see a lift or would have avoided the stairs as it had tools and poles and trolleys with broken glass and dirty dishes on . so Everytime we went back to our room it wasnt pleasant to walk passed . its a shame as the hotel was nicely decorated and clean apart from this BIG Dirty stair well which we had no choice but to use to get to our room ! Our room was ment to be a twin bed as me and my 17 year old were booked to share but there was no available so we had to share. it was unbelievabley hot and very little sleep was got . The man on reception did apologise for the aircon and gave a discount . I didnt have the heart to tell him about the mess as well . x

Excellent hotel tastefully renovated in a style reminiscent of Art Deco. Quiet room, very comfortable bed, and very friendly staff - was offered to take a little doggy bag from breakfast, which was a nice touch! (Helena from kitchen was really polite and helpful.) Really pleased, would stay there again!

Good location. Was offered a free drink instead of housekeeping but then despite giving my voucher to the bar and saying I wanted to claim the drink, I was charged £7.50. The room was ok but the bathroom smelt like a urinal and was really unpleasant. Not the standard I’d expect for this chain.

I’ve never been in a hotel where all of the staff are consistently polite, friendly, helpful, happy and amazingly genuine ! There’s clearly an incredible ethos here of top class customer service. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms are amazing and the food was stunning.

I recently stayed at the Hotel du Vin in Exeter and was drawn to the hotel’s charming blend of historic architecture and modern boutique style. The location is excellent—just a short walk from Exeter Cathedral and the quayside—making it very convenient for exploring the city. The room itself was stylish and comfortable, with a unique character that sets it apart from more generic hotels. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the attention to design detail gave the space a luxury feel. The staff were polite and helpful throughout my stay. However, I was disappointed by the lack of electric vehicle (EV) charging options on-site. As someone who travels with an EV, it was inconvenient to find no facilities available, especially given the increasing importance of sustainable travel and the hotel’s otherwise modern amenities. I had to search for charging points off-site, which was time-consuming and detracted from the experience. For a hotel of this calibre, I expected better provision for eco-conscious guests. The Bistro du Vin offered a delicious meal in a relaxed atmosphere, and I appreciated the outdoor pool and library spaces as lovely touches. But the EV issue left a sour note, and I would hesitate to return unless improvements are made in this area. Pros: • Beautiful, characterful rooms • Great central location • Lovely dining and leisure facilities Cons: • No on-site EV charging • Limited parking • Some rooms may feel dark due to design Would I recommend? The hotel itself is an interesting and attractive building. The outdoor area at the back was very nice and peaceful with a beautiful white Wisteria. The staff at reception and the restaurant were very helpful, friendly and considerate. The location was convenient for us to explore the local area. We had a very lovely weekend

Bit disappointed

Not quite as nice as I was expecting. Room was a bit tired. I was also bitten by something in the night. I shared this with reception and did get an email to say they took such things very seriously, had experts that looked at such things and would be in touch, but I never heard from them again. Also the pool was closed but this wasn’t made clear before arrival.
