our room was sew outdated smelled like cigarettes and old barroom every thing about it form the curtains to the cupboards to the furniture being all scratched up,,, it was a 1-2 star rating in my opinion very bad and made me very sad to pay all that money for what i thought was a 5 star resort.. i know i paid for the scenery and atmosphere, but this put us off right away... shook it off the next day because we came to visit family and i was letting the resort take that away from us. we have stayed in 3 other fairmounts and nothing like this ,,, we wont be back

July 4-6, 2025. We had a very disappointing experience for our wedding anniversary here. First, my request for the room was ignored - okay, fine. But really, it felt like the staff really couldn’t care less for their guests. I voiced my concerns at the onset of our weekend and again at checkout, and they didn’t even offer any apologies. The complex itself is quite outdated and not kept, but the rooms are terribly in need of updating. There was dirt on the walls, hair in the sheets, air return registers were filthy. Construction outside to create a deck, while necessary, was loud and totally took away from the serenity of being in the hot pools (literally steps away right beside the guest only pool). I wish I could attach the photos I took. While once a treat to come here, now grossly overpriced for what you’re getting.

The games room for the kids was always closed. Staff would send us down there but it was never open. The kids wanted to go in and play and to seee what was there. Very disappointing for the kids. If you are going to offer this it should be open when you say it is. They closed the mini golf a bit early as well. We were trying to find out about the float down the river but no one seemed to know any information. It took us about 3 hours to find anything out. None of which was told by the staff. If you are offering this the staff should have information to give people. Everything else was great. Just beautiful views and the weather was great. The rooms are big and it nice to sit out on the balcony with morning coffee. Great to see the deers while having coffee.

Overall good! Staff were very friendly at check in. The room was nice, comfortable bed and having the kitchenette is handy. Requested room clean, but it was not done during our stay. I have wanted to stay at this property for a fairly long time. It was what I would have thought was a dream thirty years ago. It reminds me a little bit of the resort from Dirty Dancing now. The aging property is starting to show. The bathrooms are definitely 60s with as much updating as they can do without gutting it and starting fresh. If you are going for nostalgic then this is your place. You can see that the new ownership group is investing some money into it. The deck off the restaurant and by the guest exclusive hot pool was being reconstructed while we were there and was off limits. The pools themselves need a bit of an overhaul. They are cracked and quite stained but that would be a challenge to maintain considering the age and mineral content. I have to say my heart was a little broken that the property was so dated and not invested in. I'm hoping the new ownership group will give it what it needs to be classy again with a bit of the nostalgic of mountain retreat.
