The living areas in the property consist of an open-plan studio layout with an electric oven, grill and hob, microwave and fridge, a dining area and sitting area with TV. There is a double bed and a shower room along with walk-in shower, basin and WC. Outside, there is a lawned garden and patio area and private parking for one car. Within 1.3 miles you’ll find a pub and a shop is within 1.4 miles, and please note one well-behaved dog welcome and this is a non-smoking property. WiFi, fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price. Wheatfield Lodge offers a welcoming, romantic retreat in the heart of captivating County Wexford. Note: Please note the kitchen has only basic cooking facilities so please bear this in mind when booking

Region: Known as the “Sunny South East”, the counties of Wicklow, Wexford, Waterford, and Tipperary offer everything you could need for a dream holiday in Ireland. Miles of sandy beach and scenic drives taking in mountains and coast are on your doorstep.

Town: The village of Abbey is situated 7 miles west of Portumna and 11 miles from Loughrea, south east of Galway city on the northern shore of Lough Rea. County Galway’s winner, for three years running, of Ireland’s Tidy Towns competition, the village of Abbey offers two pubs and a supermarket, and a monastery dating back to the 11th Century, from which the village takes its name. Portumna is nearby, offering good fishing and watersports, while the medieval town of Loughrea is host to several shops and pubs, two 4-star hotels, an 18 hole golf course and a lake, renowned for its fishing. Gort, is a medium sized market town on the Galway-to-Ennis Road, situated in a gap between the Slieve Aughty Mountains and the Burren to the south. There is a strong tradition of Irish music in the locality and many pubs stage sessions at night. With the cosmopolitan delights of Galway city and the popular beach at Salthill also within driving distance, this is an ideal touring base.

Quiet Corner

Decent sized room and shower room. Quiet location. Not very far to two decent sandy beaches. A few places nearby to visit, the Lighthouse at Hook Point and Tintern Abbey, ferry at East Passage over to Waterford to name but a few. Enjoyable stay with wonderful weather
