Family Friendly Place

We really enjoyed our stay at The Straw House. There is plenty of room, lots of games, a well equipped kitchen and kids loved visiting the animals.

Fantastic Straw House

Wonderful house very welcoming and quirky Witchcliffe area is becoming the Margaret river but not so busy loved this place DJ the just was lovely and so helpful

The perfect family holiday

The Straw House was perfect for our family holiday. We fell in love with the character of the home. The property had all the facilities we could possibly need. Great place for children with loads of space and local farm animals to visit. Would highly recommend for family holidays and adult groups looking for peace and tranquillity.

Fabulous stay for us and our dogs

Tranquility at it's best. Nature lovers paradise. Close to Margaret River and surroundings. Near beautiful Reg Gate beach. The house was amazing and very interesting. The delightful property owner was super helpful.

A great weekend getaway

The Straw house was our first experience renting a property ourselves as young adults, Carolyn and Mark were such lovely people and made us feel so welcome as soon as we arrived. The house itself was so cozy and full of space with a beautiful view! Thank you once again for letting us stay in ur beautiful home, we loved it and hope to be back soon :)

Farm Stay

What an awesome place for a multi generational family stay! Kids, teens and adults alike all had a wonderful relaxing time at the straw house! Ping pong was a hit! Had a read in the book about the history of how it was built - wow! How cool to be able to stay in a place literally built from straw with a whole lot of love! Definitely the kind of place to come together with family

Perfect getaway

Our second visit, this time with family, friends and dog! Something for everyone but the ping pong table was a winner for all and the huge kitchen /diner with the log fire was a great place to all hang out together. Well equipped, comfy beds, beautiful peaceful surrounds and not too far from everything. Thanks again, we’ll be back!

Wonderful and relaxing

The Strawhouse is a bit quirky, but spacious. All rooms have places for clothes and places for suitcases/bags. With 2 living rooms, a outdoor games room with table tennis table and a big dining room everyone is happy. The kitchen had more than was needed and I loved the big stove and oven.

Family celebration

Property had enough room for 8 sleeping areas so for 12 of us including 3 singles we each had our own space. 3 bathrooms with a toilet and shower was perfect. Kitchen well equipped for large groups and we had all our meals there. Large dining and 2 living areas plenty of space to relax. Books and games also available. Surrounding farmland and bush makes it easy to relax and enjoy nature. Highly recommend

Super enjoyable!

A large isolated place making it absolutely perfect for us! We were able to kick our feet up in comfort while listening to our music at our preferred volume. Only a few minutes out of Margaret River; The Straw House not only allowed easy access to shopping, but also quick access to the iconic surf of the area. Walking down the property to see the farm animals was also an added bonus! Definitely would come back here again :)

Understated

The pictures don’t do this property justice. Every aspect of this property was understated and the experience well and truly overdelivered! An epic piece of paradise where the host has thought of everything and more you could possibly need. Perfect Setting

Thank you for sharing your beautiful house. As we turned off onto the gravel road there was a true sense of getting away from it all! The setting is great and the house is very comfortable and very well equipped. Perfect for our large group celebrating a big birthday! Close enough to wineries and the beach to blow the cobwebs away! 2 nights were definitely not long enough- we will be back!

A Quirky House Suitable for Large Groups

The Straw House is set in an adorable town called Witchcliffe, a little south of Margaret River. Set on acreage, it provides a place away from the noise and encourages you to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, especially on the front verandah. The best place to enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast. The house is large with numerous bedrooms and a large room upstairs you can turn into an additional one. There are also three bathrooms, which means no waiting! A bonus with so many people under one roof. There is also a table tennis and dart board for those wishing for a little friendly competition. The kitchen is very well equipped, which is a bonus, as usually you need to bring your own equipment if you wish to do anything but basic meals. The house is well stocked with the basics and clean. The welcome bottle of wine and chocolates were unexpected but appreciated and enjoyed. DJ was a welcoming and attentive host, and easy to communicate with. And I can't write a review without mentioning how Ivy was the highlight of our stay. The bestest doggo who deserved all the pats. The only minus for us was the unsealed gravel roads leading to the property. While I personally didn't have an issue with this, some other members of my group did and would have liked to know before booking the property. But all up, a lovely property set in beautiful surroundings that can accommodate large groups easily.

The house is not good for children

Attention! This house is not good for children. There are lots of hazards ( especially with that stairs which has got so sharp edges). There is no A/C, cooler, evaporative cooling in the whole house. Theirs is a Kmart $15 fan but it’s useless. I wouldn’t recommend this house if you’re coming with the kids. Water is limited to this property. Host will message to use less water possible. She also came to say Hi ! which we liked it. There are no keys provided by hosts. We just have to close the door and leave if we have to go somewhere.

Comfy place in the tranquil bush

Great place, with lots of space and beds to fit a large group. Lovely host that was great and easy to contact. Overall great stay and we will hopefully be back.
