We stayed at the Marriott Garden Grove at the end of May 2025, hoping for a magical Disneyland trip with our two kids. Instead, it turned into a nightmare. On our first night, we returned to our room around 11 PM to find it had been broken into. Our belongings were rummaged through, and several items were stolen.
The supervisor moved us to a first-floor room, calling it an “upgrade” — hardly helpful when resettling frightened kids in the middle of the night. Our next day was ruined replacing essentials instead of enjoying California Adventure. We filed a police report with Garden Grove PD, who confirmed hotel burglaries in the area are common, but the hotel denied this. Even after Anaheim Police arrested two suspects with our stolen items, the hotel remained dismissive. Their response? A one-night credit, free parking, and an unsuitable “upgrade” — insulting considering $1,200 of items were stolen.
Communication was awful. We were promised calls and follow-ups that never came. I had to push just to speak with the GM, who was dismissive and unprepared. Even weeks later, despite police confirmation and an active case, Marriott has yet to take responsibility.Island Hospitality Risk Management has ignored us and not been in contact. Our family felt unsafe, unsupported, and unheard. To make matters worse, Marriott screened my honest review, preventing others from knowing the risks. Families, be cautious when booking here, guest safety and security is not their priority.
