The Alamo Guest House offers ten rooms. It is small and that is its strength. The rooms are clean. The staff is extremely helpful. An excellent choice of cold and hot plates is offered for breakfast. There are a good choice of different restaurants near the Alamo. I highly recommend this hotel.
The only issue we had was finding the place. Once we found it the door was locked at 4:00. Didnt know i needed to ring the bell. It is a lovely old building and breakfast was lovely. We only had one night was it was during a storm. Would have loved to have enjoyed the spa.
Fantastic little property. The staff are exceptionally nice and helpful. The breakfast was superb. The location is perfect to walk to the university and many little dining options.
We really enjoyed our stay at The Alamo! The service was superb. Our hosts were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The breakfast each morning was amazing!
This is a very intimate and beautiful hotel in Glasgow. It has an historic feel and staff were wonderful. A special thanks to Jennifer for her help with luggage and booking taxi services and advice on restaurants.
This guesthouse has a quirky old fashioned ambience with fantastic service from the staff. The breakfast is made specific to your tastes which is also a nice touch.

A beautiful building and stunning room. Came in December and it felt very festive. Fantastic decor and original features. Couldn ’t believe how close we were to everything.
Really comfortable bed. Everything was beautiful, the room, the dining room, the breakfast and the staff. Special thanks to Jennifer who went out of her way to help me with checking in for my flight. Many thanks to everyone for an incredible experience.
The excellent comfort of this guest house enhanced our stay in Glasgow. The breakfast was cooked to perfection and the choices were extensive.
The only thing I would change is to book a room with ensuite next time. It was only a short walk to the bathroom however the sink in our room did a gurgling sound for about 10 mins after being used. Not great when you are trying to get off to sleep 😪
The included breakfast they provide is very impressive, and overall, the hotel staff were very helpful, engaging, and nice.
The room we had did have a bit of a musty odor, but it soon went away and was likely due to the age of the building.
Overall, it's a very nice traditional-style hotel. If that's what you are looking for, you will enjoy it immensely. There are very nice walks right next to the park, with great restaurants and bars very close by as well.
It was so relaxing to arrive after a very long journey, and be made so welcome. The room was immaculate, beautifully arranged and scrupulously clean. En suite facilities were impeccable.
Breakfast was the best I’ve had in 50 years of hotel use. Jennifer could not have been more polite, attentive and professional.
Thank you for a terrific stay. We will be back!!
We liked the Alamo overall. The only drawback for us was the bathroom set up - which was in the bedroom, arranged in two separate parts - toilet one side and shower the other with an open bath in the middle. This didn’t suit us at all but could be improved by having a curtain that could be pulled across the gap. Apart from this we enjoyed our stay - the breakfast and staff were excellent.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
When first booked I did not check the detail adequately enough and was allocated a room with a separate bathroom across the hall (Shetland). Prior to arrival I paid for an upgrade to an en-suite room allocated by the hotel (Jura). Jura was nicely furnished but small and the en-suite was also small. There was no hot water at all on the last morning of departure and our schedule did not allow us to wait. Just before breakfast, after a cold shower, bathrooms with an electric shower was offered. The bedding and the breakfast was excellent. The on street parking is a bit of a hassle and paid for as an extra if necessary.
Stayed in Alamo Guest House for two nights this week. From the moment we arrived until our departure they couldn’t have done more to make our stay more enjoyable. Location is central, well-connected by bus to the rail and bus stations, and very attractive (the breakfast room’s picture windows looks out over Kelvingrove Museum and tennis courts). Registration was at the time we’d requested, and time was taken to show us all the thoughtful little extras (a proper coffee machine, fresh milk, complimentary Tunnocks!) Our host Lucy was lovely - welcoming, courteous, friendly and always helpful; despite being on duty night and morning during our stay. The room itself (‘Harris’) was spotless, warm, quiet and looked out over a little courtyard garden. So well blacked-out at night that one of those little plug-in nightlights would’ve been useful for nocturnal trips to the bathroom. The bed was roomy/king size and supremely comfortable. And we really liked the blue tartan stair carpet. But more than anything else, what will bring us back will be the superb breakfasts - a big choice of hot and continental items to choose from, very generously portioned, freshly cooked
to order and so tasty! We loved this place and expect to see Lucy and her colleagues again before too long.
