"I owned a business for 27 years, so I always try to look at things from that perspective. I book rooms that specifically state that they have an in room refrigerator because I am a diabetic and need to store my insulin. The description as on the Expedia website clearly stated that there was a refrigerator ( I took a screen shot), there was a cooler in the space for the refrigerator. I went into panic mode and was told by the staff that was all they had. My husband spent time away from our vacation refilling the cooler with ice to keep my insulin cold. Our stay was for 4 nights, 2 of those days we did not have hot water. Told by the staff that the pipes to our building were really old and we would have to let the water run for a very long time. We did such, still no hot water. Day 3 I summoned the maid from the hall because there was all this dust around the table and tv stand, she immediately identified this as termite dust. Reported such to the management and they said they would spray immediately! The next day, even more termite dust, they did not spray. I have never one time in my extensive travels written a negative review. This was my breaking point. Expedia needs to check and then check again about what they write. On occasions like this, my life was at stake."

"Loved the old time feel and free amenities they provided. The kayak to the lighthouse was awesome. Also used the bikes to ride the bridge to Pigeon Key. Porkys next door had great food and happy hour deals. Marathon is the anti Key West in my opinion. Much more laid back and quiet. Having a kitchen was a bonus. There are some restaurants on the Atlantic side less than a half mile that are also good. We saw manatees there which was an unexpected treat."

"I’ve stayed at this property three times in the past ten years. My how things have changed since my last stay. I will not be returning to this property. If you have young children who like to fish, swim and have fun, seek accommodations elsewhere. In the past you could fish and swim in the ocean on the property. They now have no fishing and no swimming signs posted everywhere. It’s kind of funny because I didn't see any of those signs on Expedia’s website. Not so funny when you paid almost $2000 for an extended stay and expected certain activities on the property. The hotel added more yacht slips in the marina and did away with area on the ocean side where kids could fish and swim. The check in has been relocated to the rear of the property inside the cafe area. You have to drive back to the front of the property to access the only elevator. Bizarre! Also, there are only two ice machines. One on the second floor that rarely has ice. The 2nd ice machine is on the 3rd floor and it was bone dry, it looked like it hasn’t been operational for some time! Also, if your expecting evening strolls with your honey on the dock in the hotel marina by the lighthouse. Forget it, no trespassing signs are posted telling guests to keep out. Even the stretch of sand on the far side is a no trespass area. This hotel is dedicated to slip holders in the marina. Expedia should disclose there is no fishing, swimming, or access to the dock/marina area for hotel guests. Never again!"
