Immediately upon entering the hotel, I was hot with a mildewy smell. And it was hot on the inside. The check in process was easy. We were directed to the elevator but what they didn't tell me is there is a loud thud going either up or down as if the elevator hit something in the mechanical process. It was unnerving and after going up and down several times, we decided to stick with the stairs. There were stairs at either end and we were in the middle. The room itself was okay. I found roach motels behind spaces while looking for plug ins. It had the same smell as the lobby and the room never cooled to a comfy level. The door above the restroom had some sort of liquidy stains . It was pretty gross. The shower was so clean it was slippery, as if they left soap in there to dry. The shower actually shot the water out with a thick large stream. I actually enjoyed the shower but also slipped and fell at least twice. The rest of the place was fine. There were some grease smudges from previous renters. The breakfast was alright. They had biscuits and gravy but sadly, they were very undercooked and still doughy in the middle. The coffees weren't labeled either which was disappointing. There were scary people walking around and a people just hanging out by the side door for no apparent reason. This hotel was the only hotel in Commerce. I don't think it's super worth the price. If I had to go to Commerce again, I'd get a hotel in Greenville before I came back here.

We showed up to check in and the staff came out and greeted us. We did not have any issues with check-in. The lobby was decently clean when we went down the hallway to head to our room, We noticed bugs on the floor and a moldy smell. when we enter into our room there are bugs all over the floor, blankets are dirty, air conditioner doesn’t work, brown-sticky stuff all the way down the wall and on the floor, shower was dirty, and the fire alarm beeping because the battery is dead. I usually don’t put reviews on these, but I’m hoping to save somebody else issues. We stayed less than 10 minutes before leaving. the property manager did refund our money.

Our stay at the Magnuson Hotel in Commerce was extremely disappointing. The biggest concern was safety. None of the exterior doors to the building were locked. I personally checked every exterior entrance, and every one of them allowed unrestricted access to the hallways and guest rooms. The check-in process was frustrating. Before arriving, my father and I called twice to confirm that my mother, who has mobility issues, would have a room with a walk-in shower. When we checked in, we were told, "We don't have handicapped rooms." Eventually they found a room with a walk-in shower, but there were no grab bars or handrails anywhere in the bathroom. The bar on the sliding door was not intended for pulling or pushing to maintain balance and was loose and useless for anything other than closing the door. The shower head was fixed to the wall, making it very difficult for my mother to bathe safely and comfortably. The room also had maintenance issues. The TV remote did not work. After requesting a replacement, no one brought one. When I returned to the front desk about an hour later, the employee looked surprised and said, "Oh, I forgot about you." Overall, between the lack of security, poor accessibility, and inattentive service, this was not a good experience. I cannot recommend this hotel, especially for anyone traveling with elderly family members or guests with mobility needs.

There were somethings I loved and some I did not. Loved: proximity to shopping, food options and ETAMU Loved: they let me daughter check in and collected payment from me over the phone Loved: my daughter is pregnant and didn't like the smell of the room, they moved her until she was okay. Excellent customer service, the staff was friendly and attentive. Breakfast had quite a few options. Did not love: hotel in disrepair, I literally took a piece of corner siding to the front desk after it fell of the corner of the wall near the elevator. The floors felt grimy, the room smelled musty, the hallway smelled even worse like perhaps there was water damage at one point that wasn't fully taken care of. This property could use some updates and some repairs like new carpeting and possibly new bedding. I really wanted to love it due to proximity to University but it was just okay.

0/10 recommend. I knew that the overall ratings would provide lower than higher expectations. However, if I had to choose between sleeping in my car and this hotel, it would be my car. The check in was horrible. The lady repeated my number back as I provided it discretely and a person nearby made reference in the location of my area code. She also was loud and telling me the room number and the same person followed behind me to my room. I waited for them to go where they were going before I entered my room…Hotels really need to be careful with information. The cleanliness of the room was horrible. I slept with my clothes on and a hoodie over my head. I took a wash off as the shower wasn’t cleaned well. I couldn’t wait to check out. If it wasn’t for the hotels 20mi away being fully booked, I would’ve left. Lesson learned. Should I have to travel to Commerce again, this would be the LAST place I stay!

Hotel was very understaffed. Several issues with working keys for rooms. Initial room was not cleaned, dirty, smelled like alcohol and was trashed. Took forever to get another room. New room, toilet did not work and the shower drained slow. On a good note the beds were extremely comfortable and the morning breakfast was ok.

Simply poorly taken care of. What could have been a routine clean room was not really that clean. Old paint splattered onto furniture, curtains, and the floor. Since it was a bit dirty in appearance, I checked for bed bugs. As I’m glad to report not finding any, I did find the smoke alarm under the mattress. It was beeping as if the battery was low, but the battery was still in it. There was a smoke alarm in the ceiling, and I assume the staff saw it wasn’t there and installed another one, but obviously didn’t find the one that had been removed. This was my second time staying here, and will be my last. The previous time was about 2 years ago and wasn’t much better. While it is the only hotel to stay at in Commerce, it is worth the travel to Greenville or Sulphur Springs to have better accommodations. And, it’s unfortunate since it just needs a little TLC. Or a lot of it.

Our check in along with other guests was horrible! I pre booked & paid & they had incorrect pay information on our booking & I was forced to pay again! Absolutely a cluster! I would never recommend them. I also need to be reimbursed for what I paid on the original booking with you. I have my original booking receipt & I have the receipt for paying a 2nd time. Check in took 45 minutes & we had a wedding to attend! Other guests had been waiting over an hour to get checked in as well. Please refund my original booking amount.
