Privately gated 10+ acre property that backs up to Lassen National Forest. Open space for horses, trailer/RV access, hiking etc. Less than 1/2 mile from Hat Creek (no creek access on site), and minutes away from Burney Falls, Baum Lake, the Subway Caves, SETI Institute, Lassen Volcanic National Park and other renowned recreation areas.
Located in the X4 deer zone, and bordering the Lassen National Forest, this property has wildlife on site with amazing views. The property has an outdoor fire pit, EV charger, full RV hook-up, picnic table, archery range for target practice (no equipment provided) and plenty of space for whatever you want to do. House has been recently renovated; has new floors, paint, and upgrades throughout. New roof, new decks, energy efficient smart thermostat and lighting. Keyless front door entry. Central heating and air with newer appliances, flat screen TVs, and retro video game consoles in every room, free high-speed (250+ mbps) internet/WiFi, ceiling fans in all rooms, wrap around porch, 2 large bedrooms/1 bath, sleeps 7.
FIREWOOD: Free firewood on-site. Must have a burn permit to have outside fire. Only burn in designated fire pit. Permits can be obtained from permit.preventwildfiresca.org.
EV CHARGER: Please contact owner if you plan to bring an electric vehicle. An additional fee of $15.00 per day, per vehicle will be applied to booking. Standard level 2 charger on-site. Tesla adapter available upon request.
RV / TRAILER SITE: You must contact the owner to book the RV/Trailer site. An additional fee of $45.00 per night will be applied to booking. 35 foot maximum trailer/RV. Must reserve house to reserve RV site.

Beautiful slice of paradise!
Everything was 5 star, from the host communication prior to arrival and during if needed, to the cleanliness, to the location, amenities and more! Beautiful, spacious and secluded property, yet accessible and perfectly located within reach of the nearby town and many rivers. The attention to detail by Ron (host) in making it the perfect setup for any visitor is admirable. All you can think of and need is available and everything is clearly well maintained. The photos in the listing are spot on.
It was an absolutely beautiful stay and we plan to go back! So glad we found such a gem! Highly recommend.

Fisherman's Paradise
When researching the rentals available in the Hat Creek area, I had something special in mind. A surprise birthday trip for my husband Matt. He's an avid fly fisher and had not fished Hat Creek since the 1990s. The cabin's location seemed perfect and the VRBO pictures sealed the deal. As others have indicated the renovation is great from furniture, flooring, even wall color, to nature paintings and sculptures throughout. Mustn't forget Hi Tech abounds.
Everything worked as advertised and made for very cozy evenings with Roku streaming. The weather did not require a fire; however, the wood stove looked tempting.
Matt said it was a joy to be within approx 15 minutes of reaching his daily fishing destinations. At day's end, he'd return excited to recount "stories" of the fish he caught and the numerous friendly fishermen he had the pleasure of meeting. The pictures he took showed just how beautiful the streams and the environment are, yet so close to home base.
My review is primarily about the Perfect cabin for a fisherman and his wife. Other's reviews detail how well the cabin is stocked in every way, how functional it is, what activities are available in the cabin itself, as well as their exploration of the surrounding attractions and countryside.
I want to end by saying what a delight it was communicating with Ron. From my first text discussing my desire for a surprise getaway, Ron has been helpful and quite creative in maintaining that secrecy.
We'll be back!

Great house! Fully equipped, CLEAN, comfortable, great location for a couple of hiking, fly fishing friends! Close to Hat Creek, Burney Falls, Lassen NP. Host was very friendly, great communication. Just perfect, will rent again- thank you Ron!

Outstanding 5/5
I hesitate to expound on how outstanding our overall experience was because we are selfish and want to be able to come back whenever we want to. Once others continue to experience what we have Ron will be even more swamped than he is currently.
1. Owner: Ron is truly top tier with regard to his forethough. It is abundantly clear that he meticulously plans literally every desire/need his guests might have. Again, I hesitate to mention this as well because I’d hate to see him taken advantage of by less thoughtful folks who don’t plan for themselves. However, noting it is required as we have literally never been so impressed at the organization and foresight he demonstrates.
2. Property: very quiet and well apportioned with RV hookup and EV charging. First rate fire pit area with all safety requirements and an archery range are great. Ron provides plenty of chairs and seating. There are many trailheads and outdoor activities in proximity and Burney has several restaurants as well as a Safeway less than 20 mins away. A stop at Costco in Redding is warranted as the kitchen is full up with everything you’d need to feed a family three meals a day.
Accommodation: we’ve covered the kitchen already. What Ron has done with what is about 1K sqft is astounding. While we are only a retired couple the property easily accommodates two couples in extremely comfortable king beds with another single bed plus bunk beds. There are three TVs w/ROKU. Out of space…BL - A++!

Perfect cozy cabin get away!
From start to finish this trip was amazing. Easy to book and involved host. The cabin was extremely clean with everything you could want or need. Host thought of everything even the items you may have forgotten. Cabin has all the modern tech and internet works as it should! Very close to Burney Falls and within driving distance to several other nature trails and falls. Beds are comfortable. We enjoyed camp fires around the fire pit and relaxing by the fire place after a long day of exploring. Kitchen is fully stocked. We could not have had a better time!

The best stay!
My family and I (husband, two kids 3/4) stayed at Hat Creek Retreat last weekend and it was absolutely wonderful! The house and grounds were immaculate and in a great location for everything we wanted to see. We visited Lassen Volcanic Park, Burney Falls, Baum Lake, Lake Britton, and the local fish hatchery. The house is close to the town of Burney where there is a Safeway, so no need to pack everything under the sun like I did! The couches and beds were very comfortable and the kids loved that they had games we could all play (Jenga, puzzles, cards, etc). Upon arrival they even left glider toy airplanes and games for each kiddo. Not to mention, a welcome sign for our family and an excellent bottle of red wine!
The house was organized, clean, and had more than we needed. The kitchen had nice pots and pans and all the utensils for cooking. Everything had a home and was labeled accordingly. The house had extra toothbrushes, toothpaste, toiletries, and even shaving cream should you forget yours!
Communication with Ron was effortless which I really appreciated. Hat Creek Retreat was so accommodating and cozy. I would have been happy just staying in! Excellent place for the whole family. We will be booking again. Bravo!

Great home base for fishing weekend
We stayed at the house for a fly fishing weekend, and had a great time. The house was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. We had some great fishing within a short drive. Would definitely stay there again.

A memorable stay for our family!
Came up for some family time away from the city bustle, and this place was great ❤️ beautiful views, well stocked, so much outdoor space for the kids to run and play with their little gifts (thanks again!). It rained the entire trip but we came prepared and was able to visit most of the sites we wanted to see and some snow play. Out of everything we did, relaxing at the cabin was the favorite for our little people 😄 Thank you Ron, and hope to visit for another stay!
